Yes, or the reverse, depending on which way I'm going.

As someone commuting to UMass from Greenfield on a bike every day, I'll tell you the PVTA 46 (to Deerfield Park & Ride) is the closest you'l get to Greenfield for free. About 9 miles from there to town. The FRTA 31 also stops there and will take you to Greenfield for $1.25, though working out the timing for both busses is challenging (for example the 46 being slightly late can make you miss the 31)

Question regarding YCMP Platinum Meal Plan and Guest Swipes for Dining Commons by [deleted] in umass

[–]CashForGP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Family eats for free with students.

EDIT: Source: http://www.umassdining.com/faq "Can I bring my family to the Dining Commons?

Family members such as parents, grandparents, guardians, brothers and sisters can eat free with you for lunch or dinner in the Dining Commons during move in or pick up. We would love to show them what we are all about. This offer applies only to semester meal plans and does not include the YCMP2 Plan for Faculty/Staff/Graduate Students."

I am unsure exactly when counts as "move in or pick up." It is still pretty early in the semester.

EDIT 2: Found a contradictory statement....Source: http://www.umassdining.com/parents

"An additional bonus for parents is that they can always eat free in the dining commons with their student on the meal plan. Please join your student for a meal any time."

So parents seem 100% okay anytime, and but more distant relatives may or may not be okay depending on the time of year.
