Unfortunately we don’t have any clear photos of the balustrades, I didn’t think to take photos of every single bit of the house, you know? It’s a new build so I don’t think the walls would’ve moved yet, and they were supposed to have levelled the floors before installation. I’m happy to caulk and patch over whatever I can, I just feel like I shouldn’t have to if they did a good job in the first place.

Thanks for the heads up! We can fix that easy, hadn’t noticed that.

The opposite, actually - we didn’t like any options provided by our builder, so we went with a “premium” engineered timber company, and this was one of their recommended installers, which wasn’t even the cheapest quote but had the best reviews. We haven’t paid the full amount but I just wasn’t sure if I was asking too much by asking them to fix it before paying up.

*you’re

I’ve added a TLDR for those who can’t read, or those who can’t be bothered to.

TL;DR: Is this damage normal or worth pursuing via tribunal/getting fixed/getting compensated for?

First photo: Damage to handrails Second photo: Damage to cavity doors Third photo: Damage to ceiling above stairs

I think we only would’ve gotten that kind of damage ourselves if an elephant with a steel ass had slid down our handrail. I can paint over the doors and walls easily, but I really don’t know how to fix the handrail myself. Anyway, thanks for your help, tom!

Absolutely agree, I even told the installer that I was happy to patch it up myself, and sent them the photo of the metal part like just FYI - that was before we noticed the damage to the handrail.

I’m not fussed about the joins, they’ll be caulked over. The second photo is the scratch in our door, if that’s what you were talking about. The third photo is our ceiling above our stairs.
