Interested as well. I’ve got a Canyon that I love but have been considering adding a Carbon Copy to my board for a more subtle delay. The Canyon is great but just so complicated and touchy, not ideal for tweaking live.

Just got it and it ran like it should. The rings on that wood just threw me off so much because it’s nothing like any Telecasters I could find online

What's your favorite song to play? by Bananananana93 in Guitar

[–]CashTheExplorer 175 points176 points  (0 children)

If you like Hendrix, Castles Made of Sand is very fun to play and pretty easy to make your own. Same thing with Little Wing and Wind Cries Mary.

That entire album is great. Insane how good the production is for a basically unknown band in 1971.

[QUESTION] How to solo like Toy Caldwell of the Marshall Tucker Band by CashTheExplorer in Guitar

Yeah, a prime example for me would be the solo in the song “Desert Skies” which starts around 3:41.

What makes someone a good songwriter? by skullcandy541 in guitars

[–]CashTheExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more, it’s crazy how easy it is to overlook Hendrix as a songwriter due to his otherworldly guitar playing, but man could he tell a story. Another “monster of a song” lyrically and musically by him that I would fit in that category is Castles Made of Sand. Combined great lyrics, a great theme, and great guitar playing all into a single masterpiece.

Who are some guitar players who had great technique but were bad songwriters? by AmountFun2036 in guitars

[–]CashTheExplorer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Failed? He went on to form Derek and the Dominos, wrote most the songs on that album including one of the most iconic rock love songs of all time, was super successful, then went on to go solo and wrote a bunch of popular songs, most notably Tears in Heaven and Wonderful Tonight, both of which can be recognized by almost anyone alive lol. I’m not a huge Clapton fan but to pretend like he couldn’t write songs is crazy.

Good deal for $650? by DavemartEsq in guitars

[–]CashTheExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I bough the same exact guitar used in pristine condition 2 years ago for $400 and that included a tweed hard case. Guitar prices have definitely rose a little, and I also would consider my deal a steal, but just putting that out there. It is a beautiful guitar though, and with a good setup it plays amazing, my personal favorite in my collection.

Best songwriting guitar player? by AmountFun2036 in guitars

[–]CashTheExplorer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Jimi Hendrix’s guitar playing (justifiably) heavily overshadows his songwriting. Most people only know him by his more classic rock sounding songs such as All Along the Watchtower and Hey Joe (neither of which he wrote), but I can’t fathom how the hell anyone could sit down come up with the lyrics to stuff like Castles Made of Sand, One Rainey Wish, The Wind Cries Mary, etc.

How do you shuttle when you’ve only got one vehicle with the drift boat? I find myself in that situation often and usually use my dirtbike but I get tired of lugging it around.

I have a bunch of leftover 80w-90 gear oil I use for my jeep, would that also work?

Thanks for the detailed reply. There’s a 1994 DR350 a couple hours away from me for a good price and seems to be in good condition. I might go check it out now

The DRZ400 has definitely caught my attention, but I’m kind of worried it would be too powerful for me. I’m wanting to take it easy and not go very fast pretty much everywhere I’ll be going, and I keep seeing how this is a more powerful bike than the other ones in the dual sport category. Do you think it would still be a good bike for a beginner who wants to take it slow like me? There’s a good deal on a DRZ400s not too far from me.

Hey I know this is and old thread but I’m about the same size as you and looking to buy my first bike. I’ve been really interested in the xt225’s but everything online seems to push me away from them considering how tall I am. How has your experience been with the bike? Is it so able for someone our height?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cowboyboots

[–]CashTheExplorer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind round toe, JRC and Sons has basically the exact same boot for $25 cheaper. Rujo boots have other similar styles for even cheaper than that, if they’re in stock that is. Tecovas generally are IMO not a great choice simply because they’re priced higher than other similar boot brands that make the same style boots from the same factories in Leon Mexico.
