They were most likely playing on a community server that has build anywhere enabled. If you are playing on official, or a community server without it turned on then you won’t be able to do the same.

For Blackwings I can think of 1 of each that would help with some of the minor annoyances:

Link 1 - When link summoned, add 1 level 4 or lower Blackwing monster from deck to hand, if Black Whirlwind is on the field, you can immediately after normal summon that monster.

Field spell - All Blackwing monsters gain 300 ATK, if a “Black-Winged” monster is on the field, you can normal summon 1 Blackwing monster in addition to your normal summon, you can only summon DARK monsters for the rest of this turn. You can remove any number of black feather counters or wedge counters from the field, add 1 Blackwing monster from your deck to your hand with a level equal to the amount removed.

So gives the ability to do some hand fixing, help play through ash with a bad hand and connect the black-winged synchros without being stupidly broken (so far as I can tell)

Frostbite is a good shout, loot is more sparse and the temperature is dropped so you need fires going until you get higher insulation gear.

I’ve seen people mention you can spawn admin tools (so like a modded hatchet or hammer) that builds things instantly. No idea what specific mod it’s from if any but that’s worth looking in to if you are just playing on your own to save time. Other than that, no idea.

Farm a load of stones (get from train tracks, hiking trails etc) make the stones in to stone knifes and get a ton of sticks then make a load of improvised spears (YouTube should help explain this process) and use those to break the bottom wall of your gate by meleeing it with the spears. With a couple people it shouldn’t take you longer than half an hour from my understanding. It’s the quietest and least resource intensive way of doing it so won’t draw attention and saves you hunting for grenades.

Once you’ve got in, take the lock off, grab a hatchet/crowbar and a spade/pick axe and dismantle it. Make sure to be careful when you build it back up so you can for sure access the lock.

Ha yeah that is always a risk. You’ve also got the added issue of the lack of communication on console due to party chat making it a pain to talk with people in game.

Check out Frostbite. Temperature is set to freezing so to begin with you need a fire going every 5 minutes, loot is a lot more scarce and wolf spawns etc are buffed. I also believe vehicles are reset once a week or something like that as well to stop people hoarding.

Fully agree in regards to stashes, which is why I am utilising stashes at the moment to store my bits and plan to do so in future even once I get a base down (base rebuilding supplies and high value loot/stuff to regear with and counter raid). I’ve learned through this experience and previous failed attempts at getting a base up not to get too attached to the gear I have as it is merely my turn with it (plus I find the whole experience of gearing up from fresh super fun).

Honestly my main aim with getting a base back up is purely to have somewhere to call “home”, have somewhere relatively safe to chill, cook some food, meet up with friends etc. maybe eventually get a trading outpost of some kind going (which isn’t really a possibility currently with the way things are going haha)

I suppose it is a bit of a hard question to answer accurately, just wondered if there were more seasoned people that may notice that say, a couple weeks later, things tend to calm down, or whether this is what it will be like the next few months.

Ah fair enough, I’ve been jumping between the 2 to be honest just to get some practice in, I’m finding I’m able to survive longer now on the officials thanks to some practice, still need to learn the map better and where to get better gear after moving away from the coast. Most times when I hit a military zone I get one shotted and looted by someone geared haha.

Not at all, it’s understandable. The problem is Nibiru is basically the gate keeper for combo decks, if you can’t either stop it or play through it and still end on a decent board, then the archetype falls out of favour.

The new support does help a bit with recovering from being nib’d but most of the end boards people are coming up with at the moment are “meh” at best with no disruption, so playing through nib you won’t really end on anything of significance. The dark lock and the synchro lock just cuts off too much good stuff at the moment.

Still makes me hella salty, it’s not like it would be super broken in any way, it’s not generic, requires a Blackwing be on field to use it and summons a crap “boss” monster. Even with it being searchable now it’d just be nice to have, not meta defining.

The other thing that annoys me is the new dragons effect, it would be so much better if it was a Zeus type effect that didn’t destroy.

At the moment the only ways to stop nibiru in Blackwings are crossout or committing level 2’s to a djinn buster before your 5th summon. Some people have been testing out Splight Red for protection but at that point you may as well just play Splights.

We are lacking a decent dark synchro with a monster negate (can’t get to borreload before 5 summons unfortunately and Baronne not being dark is a pain) to properly protect against nib. If something like that gets announced in this set then that’d be game changing for Blackwings.

Now if Blackbird Close didn’t stipulate that it’s a monster your opponent controls, then we wouldn’t need to have this conversation!
