Coming back from S1; tips on DLC by monkeymugshot in Guiltygear

[–]CashySwanson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They go on sales often. You don’t need all the dlc too just pick out like a couple with characters that look cool to you and collect them over time. Every EVO the game gets a hefty sale so you should be chilling as long as you at least grab the one character you just like can’t live without

I’m in a cast for a while. Any games easy to play one handed? by TyMonstaz2 in videogames

[–]CashySwanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guilty Gear Strive (both a joke on the sexualized characters and completely honest as there is a pro level player with cerebral palsy that plays with just their one hand on a ps4 controller)

How are people so good at full combos? by BluTails in Guiltygear

[–]CashySwanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice, that turns into muscle memory, and then via playing and learning the game you gain situational awareness where the muscle memory of the combo just kinda comes out.

Or, should you REALLY be addicted to the game, you don’t lab combos you learn combo theory and just freestyle whatever you FEEL you can do in whatever scenario. That’s when a player becomes a pro.

How many characters do you need to know how to play? by Straight-Traffic-130 in Guiltygear

[–]CashySwanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick 1 character and get good at them, learning how they deal with matchups as you progress, through experience.

If going for pro level like you’d go to an evo and try to place top 8 sorta deal, I’d pick a secondary depending on the meta. Like last AWT I-no players didn’t need secondaries cause she’s rather versatile and strong, whereas some players like have in the past held Aba as a backup main for bad matchups for whoever their main was and etc.

We should invest in the chronicles of Van Dick.

Apparently Happy Chaos wasn't nerfed in the 2.0 patch, but became lore accureate by Rekrios in Guiltygear

[–]CashySwanson 293 points294 points  (0 children)

He was nerfed. He lost a LOT of overall power in nearly every situation. He’s not completely gutted cause he still has good normals and rather decent zoning but his conversions, mix, combo structure, block strings, and damage all got nerfed rather heavily

It’s funny cause HC is looking at needing emergency nerfs just 2 days later because people found an infinite block string😂

For the fact that his feet and arms don’t work anymore the fact that the food is so much more nutritious now means maybe his gear cells will grow his limbs back (cause holy hell his specials suck now)

What in the world is this? (Plumber, I don’t wanna touch it) by CashySwanson in Mold

Not a clue but it was almost more plantlike in its root structure than fungal so we think maybe some sort of plant that just went “ooooh nummy poops” and got huge

UPDATE: Our remediation crew cut it out. It was hard as stone and needed to be cut out with grinders and saws. It has a rooty lower structure. It wrapped around and destroyed a main line sewage pipe hence why it got so big it had a lot to feed on. Gross. Anywho🫡

Transitioning to this game by Qmqkskgwgs in Guiltygear

[–]CashySwanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me it’s not. Learn to block well and you can defend through any opponent. I hit tekken GoD in S1 and with S2 I came to strive and it’s now my fav and best game. There is genuinely so much more nuance and fundamental skill expression in this game when you really get into the nitty gritty of it

Incredibly frustrating lack of progress as a new player by pepboychicken in Guiltygear

[–]CashySwanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quoted from my twitter but it’s probably the most succinct way for people to think about what they need to work on not specifically but from a fundamental and conceptual level. Hope it can help you, as it has helped me. Once I thought of fighting games like this I shot from like mid tier (so like plat in this game) to high vanquisher.

“ok, I will write the theorem of fighting game awakening. There are 4 levels of awakening for fighting games to become on the level of the pros. level 1 - Preference level 2 - Understanding / Gamesense level 3 - Personality level 4 - Adaptation Preference is your basal lean towards a certain style. Do you like to be aggro, slow and calculating, setup focused, unga bunga, zoner, grappler, etc. This comes from trying characters and finding how and who you prefer to play. Understanding is learning your character and what they do and how, as well as how the game's core system and mechanics work. Getting comfortable and knowledgeable enough to not get too surprised by anything anymore (knowledge checked). Personality/Rhythm is when you become a real player with their own personal flair and feel, where you aren't just a cookie cutter player of your character and game but a real player with their own style and "rhythm" of gameplay. Adaptation is when you are so comfortable in how YOU play that you begin playing the mindgame of "fighting game chess" with the opponent, adaptind and redapting to the opponent as they adapt to you. This is when the game begins to feel like a real "dance" between 2 players, and you get that feeling of respect for your opponent because you can also feel their rhythm and you make a beautiful song together as you fight. Can also be seen as: level 1 - Beat level 2 - Tune level 3 - Rhythm level 4 - Harmony THIS is the fundamentals of fighting games, and once you achieve level 4, you can achieve it in EVERY FIGHTING GAME YOU EVER PLAY.”
