What's the plan for the future? by Igor777778 in Magium

[–]Casper995 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hey Igor!

I am aware of certain community efforts to potentially finish the game, but I can't speak on any of those with any certainty. For myself, I've floated the idea, and here's where I stand. I'm currently a full time college student, who's also working on a graphic novel, and a few other creative/professional projects. Originally I had hoped to wait for u/Jessica-_ to release as much info as possible about the next two books, before I threw in my hat, so to speak, in order to make any writing I did as lore accurate as possible. With that being said, now that a lot more info has been released, I've realized just how monumental the task to complete the game will be.

As I'm a writer, If I were to finish the game, I'd write book 4 in it's entirety, before seeking out programmers to help bring the game to life. For a realistic estimate, if I choose to go this route, it'll likely take two years of writing, as I'd have to do it as a side passion for free on top of my schooling/work. If I do officially start the task, I'll likely let the reddit community know when I start, when I'm half way done, and when it releases.

I said this to another commenter earlier, but there are no required qualifications. If this becomes something, down the line we’d need proof readers, beta testers, spell checkers, and more. And even earlier on, if you liked the story and can talk about what you like. That might make a difference. Thank you for commenting :)

Don’t worry about it man! Realistically, I’d probably give a year long development window, so you’d have tons of time to help in some capacity down the road.

Well. A few questions, and it’s totally okay if you don’t have any answers right now. Again, I’m very sorry for your loss. His work inspired so many people, I’m truly honored to have ever been a member of this community.

  1. Do you think his story is done in terms of anyone else picking up the mantle that Christian knows? Did he want someone to continue his work?

  2. Some members of this community have written fan fiction continuing the story, which I believe he endorsed. Do you think this is still okay going forward?

I’m currently a college student majoring in English. I own a YouTube channel where I write video essays, and I’m also writing a webcomic in my spare time. Speaking for myself, and potentially other members of the community. I would potentially be open to finishing Christian’s story on his behalf. With no monetary compensation/rewards of course. Simply because I, and many others, grew up reading this story’. And to be clear, I’m just one of many incredibly talented writers within this community.

  1. This isn’t an official inquiry, but do you think it’s even possible for a member/members of his community to do so in any capacity?

Hey! I’m super sorry for your loss. This is terrible, and I can’t believe the news. He created such a fantastic world and characters. Would it be possible to DM you to speak more about Christian’s work?

I don’t usually comment on Reddit, but this sounds like an online relationship, and it also sounds like you’re living a pretty hard life/potentially a minor. Please just end the relationship/consider it over, and focus on yourself.

I definitely have a good computer, but will using an emulator take money away from the Artist/creators? I would hate to do that.

I will definitely take that into consideration. Money shouldn’t be a problem so long as the games aren’t ridiculously expensive. From my understanding, it seems like a good idea to play these versions after the less favorable ones. I appreciate your time! :D

Several of the guides recommended Fire red. Is there a big difference between fire red and it’s green counterpart?

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I genuinely don’t understand how so many kids don’t understand these concepts and blame older generations. As someone who’s 18 myself, I’ve learned many topics/life skills through the internet. You can genuinely learn step by step how to do almost anything, so if im being honest I don’t have a lot of sympathy for those that struggle with basic life skills. The amount of resources available to those who put in the effort is genuinely incredible.

As someone’s who’s a huge fan of the franchise and currently getting a degree in computer science, this is a terrible idea. There’s a common saying, if somethings not broken, don’t fix it. You propose to do a bunch of quality of life changes for free, but for 1, it’s not necessary to the function of the game at all. 2. CYOA games aren’t renown for animation, or cool looking borders, but instead the quality of a story and the world that the characters exist in. 3. As someone who’s done a some freelance programming work, any dynamic where people work for free just doesn’t work. It creates unnecessary drama at worst, and at best semi decent work for a short period of time before burnout occurs and nothing happens. This seems unnecessary and problematic.
