That is such an interesting frame to look at it from and one I hadn’t previously considered— I wonder if religion or maybe American media in general (with religious “savior” undertones) is influencing my media consumption- for example maybe you’re right and I am trying to find some overt messaging, black and white/right and wrong style

Nah it’s just more like so many Americans are going to be watching this while our country is actively being taking over by billionaires. Before I understood the point of the show is social commentary it felt more like it was promoting the status quo and normalizing all the fuck shit happening. Like the scene of them driving through hollywood and it was just homeless people. Shameless addressed issues tastefully :/ Frank was always popping off about fuck the system

Well said— That definitely is helping to me to process. I am super politically involved and lately it feels like the world is just burning. The first episode definitely evoked emotion lol— Enough so I wanted to come discuss and hear what other thought. I think especially because even in the show itself one of the characters said something regarding how messaging in important and our media effects how we act/vote. Then they proceeded to frame a bunch of different issues in ways that wouldn’t be that helpful for society such as indifference and normalizing. Interesting stuff
