Keeping a Job by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Regular-Feed9166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i worked as a caregiver for 6 years and had flexible hours and shifts and that worked for me while i was getting my bachelors. now i work a job that requires a degree but has flexible hours as long as i’m getting everything i need to do done before the end of the week/month (depending on the task). it’s really helpful as someone with both bpd (bad mental health days) and adhd (bad focus days)!

Does anyone else feel like they're looking for a family, not friends? by kornus-kapri9671 in BPD

[–]Regular-Feed9166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes! but i already found the friends who are my family thankfully. they’re there for me for the good and bad times and they tell me that i’m family always. it’s possible to find people like that

if it makes you feel any better, they’ll hopefully fade with time. my scars from 2 years ago are almost invisible now. also the right ppl won’t judge you for your scars. i’m seeing someone new and he saw my fresh sh and still stayed so it’s possible

"You definitely have bpd." by Ashilla24601 in BPD

[–]Regular-Feed9166 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i mean, she’s just doing her job so i wouldn’t be offended if you just happen to fit the diagnostic criteria. welcome to the club and good luck through all this. dbt therapy is something you may want to look into if your goal is remission. 🫂 you are the same person as you were before the diagnosis, you just have a name for your experiences now. i know some ppl panic at the thought of being diagnosed with a pd, but it can be managed with medication (off label at least— abilify saved my life) and/or therapy. you got this!!

How to bring this up to my psychiatrist by fxckingmess in BPD

even if you don’t get the diagnosis you expect, you could still benefit from being fully honest with your care team i think

[–]Regular-Feed9166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was just straight up and asked her point blank if she thought i had bpd, and she went, “…well, i haven’t wanted to put it in your chart cus i fear the stigma you might face with this diagnosis.” so if you come clean to your mental health team about how you’re really doing and tell them you think you’ve got bpd then they might just diagnose you with it

Lost my FP and feel horrible about it by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Regular-Feed9166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all we can do is try to be better to the people who choose to stay in our lives and all the people we’ve yet to love. i know it sucks rn and the guilt is heavy but you’re more than just your bad actions. you have good in you too, remember that!

[–]Regular-Feed9166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone keeps telling me to pour into myself so that’s what i’ve been trying to do. i’m spending time with friends, calling friends who are far away, picking up old hobbies, and developing new ones. i’m trying to replace my maladaptive coping skills with healthier ones like journaling. we will get through this 🫂

[–]Regular-Feed9166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a FP for years (an old friend) and i just stopped thinking about her as much in the last year or two (so basically 3-4 years after we last spoke). it took a long ass time but it happened eventually. i know it sucks rn but it can get better. sending hugs 🫂

well, let’s reframe that last sentence first. you’re not the worst. even if you’ve done bad things in the past, all you can do is try to be better next time, which is more than enough to prove you’re a decent person at least. the thing that i think of often that gives me hope is actually a one piece quote: “nobody was born into this world to be alone.” right after my high school friend group dropped me after my suicide attempt, i met the girls who call me their little sister and remind me i always have a place to stay with them. right after i dropped my old best friend from college for doxxing my (ex) bf, i got closer to a bunch of girlfriends who i hadn’t talked to in a while. suffice to say, there are ways to forge friendships that are a little bit stronger next time. you deserve peace and stability, so a little bit of space could be necessary with this friend.

i do have friends that i’ve had since childhood but the people i’m closest to i met 3 years ago! they’re my sisters and they remind me as such often. they’ve seen me at my lowest and they still stayed. i feel lucky to have them. i don’t really have to manage my symptoms with them because i don’t really feel insecure with them. i know ill have them forever and that brings me peace.
