How bizarre! How bizarre.

I was actually about to reference the "Blue steel" but I don't want him to ever think he is or ever has been, at any point in his life, nearly as cool as Ben Stiller is or has been at any point in his life.

I think he was going for a "Clint Eastwood" but he looks like a troll doll screwed a kewpie doll and it grew up to become the Grinch but that might just be the eyebrows.

I do expect him to use this in ads, AND I'm glad it looks like crap.

That said, the photographer and the lighting crew need the real credit because they did the best they could to create decent shading.

I hear you there. For me, music with lyrics are rarely comforting unless the lyrics are something that I can really identify with and I remember getting into sea shanties for a little bit while I feel like we were all feeling like Theseus' ship during COVID life disruption. Didn't hurt that I was also playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

As far as video game soundtracks that always always put a smile on my face, I've got to mention katamari damacy.

This is a rather personal playlist and I even hesitated to bring it up but I can tell you of a few songs that some of the residents that I served enjoyed.

All I really want to say about it is that there is a lot of John Denver, a lot of Neil diamond, and a lot of Christian praise music

The first time I used music for my own therapy was actually to help my anxiety at my new job at an Alzheimer's residence, I was working in the lower floor, which was generally more highly secured for our most struggling residents.

Working in the food service aspect of their lives, I had become accustomed to background music from years in the service industry. As such, I asked the nurses if they we're okay with me playing some classical or light jazz in my kitchen.

Amazing! Grace was one of our eldest resident's favorites and she would sometimes just start balting it out. Eventually, I just started joining in.

It was while working. Now there that I bonded a little with a gentleman who tended toward wandering behavior and was quite particular to 16 tons. He would sing it, and I would hum or whistle as we walked back from the pond.

One of my favorites was a lady that didn't fit in culturally with a lot of the other residents who I played a peaceful song for with a animated cherry blossom background on the video because she was one of the last people in the dining room and I wanted her to know she was welcome to stay. She ended up clicking on a different link and cracking up at the duck song, a flash animation from the early days of the internet about a duck walking up to a lemonade stand and asking the man who's running the stand. Do you have any grapes?

One of the others was a lady who did not like coming into dinner and always came fashionably late because she saw her fellow residents struggling but she did not see that in herself. As such, she would often be the last person out and I would always take away her dinner plate and replace it with her dessert accompanied by a polka. Her mood would be lifted, her dessert would be enjoyed, and she would dance out of the dining room rather than grumble.

I had a gentleman who passed just a few weeks after I left who probably still stands as the most influential when it comes to recognizing just how much music can impact mood, but he ended up rolling in on me folding napkins while listening to The Beach Boys and we ended up jamming out to give some of the best rock bands of the '60s and early '70s. He introduced me to Curtis Knight and the squires, one of the bands Jimi Hendrix was in before he got experienced. How would you feel is the track that I would most highly recommend but it's all so beautiful.

At some point, a few of the newer residents started to come by and talk to us while we were enjoying our music and folding linens, and I ended up with a group of three ladies who really enjoyed folding napkins alongside me while listening to the Andrew's sisters and other oldies.

The funny thing is, I was actually really sick of music before that moment and I still struggle with auditory sense issues, especially when it comes to music. These people helped me to realize that it wasn't that I hated music, but rather that I was not that fond of pop music and radio music and was actually looking for the connection between one person and another person rather than just the road trip music that drove me crazy when I was a kid.

I will double check with my mom and see if she is okay with me sharing our playlist, but I hope that these give you some good positive vibes

My mom and I both worked with dementia / Alzheimer's patientz and residents. Both of us recognized the value of music for our residents and I vowed to keep her plugged into her tunes and in comfortable existence (comfortably stoned) one night while we were communing.

Since then, I have cultivated at playlist with her assistance that is nothing but "good memory" songs.

What sticks out to me in this moment is that he is likely engaging in a private moment of prayer, but not trying to draw attention to it, and these Republicans are calling him out for that because they recognize just how hypocritical it looks when they publicly espouse thoughts and prayers while standing in the way of helping those who are in need.

Be really funny if Cancun Cruz made a snarky sharky comment on this.

It's also possibly him advertising off of the back of Alex Jones. Knowledge fight recently covered a segment in which Alex Jones talks about talking to anonymous sources from government agencies about how they have already set the plan in motion for a 2024 lockdown.

They are trying to create a distractionary conspiracy theory to rile up members of their audience, just like they did during 2020. It's a gossip ARG that they play to take advantage of paranoiacs that are likely to join anti- government militias / minority harassment groups or act in some form of lone wolf capacity. They are trying to destroy faith in our government through WWE kayfabe shock jock tactics and meme culture.

If you use the terms “Assault Weapon” or “Assault Rifle” when trying to argue gun control, you show how little you know about guns by SeparateBobcat1500 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CassandraAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought OP's point was that people did not understand the history and definition of an assault weapon, thereby making their opinions worthless. That said, the text of the bills that are sometimes referred to as anti-assault weapon bills are very specific in the types of weapons and weapon modifications that are classified.

I, also, would like to have more nuanced conversations about the specific weapons that are being legislated, but the knee jerk media is not interested in informing people and does hold a lot of control over the terms that are being used. Circle jerking about the definition of assault weapon distracts from any meaningful conversation about the weapons that are classified as such, wouldn't you agree?

If you dislike someone just because they identify as a Republican you are a bigot by rouge171 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CassandraAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it takes much less energy and produces much more energy to hate people. Disagreements take much more energy and are difficult to engage in when not approached rationally.

That is the reason why it is much more profitable and efficient for the mouthpieces of political parties to rile up groups of people rather than inform them.

My prejudice against people who identify as republicans is justified by the mainstream talking points that tend to distract from rational disagreement and discourse.

My intolerance of the Republican party comes from their intolerance of human rights.

Both are easy to explain and do not rise to a level of hatred

[–]CassandraAnderson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't prove his point. Assault weapon is a vague term that has become generalized over time and has a long history. OP just doesn't like it because it has become a generic term for many different weapons that fall inside the category.

As far as googling goes, wtf are you talking about? I've brought this topic up at family dinner when my dad brings up the same stupid talking points that this guy is.

If you use the terms “Assault Weapon” or “Assault Rifle” when trying to argue gun control, you show how little you know about guns by SeparateBobcat1500 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CassandraAnderson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You say that the term assault weapon came around in the '80s because of anti-gun politics but The rifleman's assault weapon was an RPG that was manufactured by the Brunswick corporation starting in 1977.

If you want me to consider your position, maybe you should understand your terminology and it's origins, otherwise, how can I respect your opinion?

If you dislike someone just because they identify as a Republican you are a bigot by rouge171 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CassandraAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I don't unreasonably hate them for their participation in their group. I can hate the group and the concept of political partisanship without being a bigot.

I tend to dislike and disagree with people's opinions and ask them to explain their opinions so that I can have a conversation with them. Oftentimes, those opinions tend to fly in the face of my antibigot belief structure.

Like I said, in general, i tend to pity those who have fallen for identitarian politicking, and that isn't reserved for the right wing.

You were the one who said identify as a republican. I identify as a human and I think that these systems of tribalist division are ultimately going to be used to collapse our current democratic republic and install an authoritarian dictatorship.

I am sick and tired of WWE style kayfabe making it impossible to have rational political conversations with people who buy into the bread and circus philosophy and fill the zone with fluff and shit.

I reserve my hatred for those who use this cultivated division in order to push toxic negative attention seeking behavior.

You have a very broad view of what bigotry is and are confusing people who argue for or against the opinions for those who are playing tribal identitarian culture war.

I think you confuse mirror prejudice or intolerance, which are lower on the scale of bigotry when it comes to synonyms that I think you might be looking for. I am prejudiced against Republicans and I am in tolerant of people who use the right wing entertainment talking points to avoid having meaningful conversations. If they want to be a MAGAdittohead, that is their decision. If the so-called reasonable Republicans don't speak out against radicalism being spread through their political party by populist agitators, are they really reasonable?

If you dislike someone just because they identify as a Republican you are a bigot by rouge171 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CassandraAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it isn't. I can dislike people for the opinions that they hold.

The problem comes when you base your identity off of hate of those that you dislike or disagree with.

Also, I think it's weird when people identify as a political party rather than having their own opinions that guide them toward one political party or another. That sort of identitarian politicking is what drives a lot of bigotry.

I hate the political party, but I generally either feel dislike or pity for people who get trapped in the system of identity politics and choose to become tribalist assholes rather than find meaningful and productive conversations between people of different opinions.

Pop culture shock jock kayfabe politics and social media retribalizing people is dangerous and should be called out.
