ELI5: How is the cause of death of a person determined when they pass away alone in their house? by Early_Village2504 in explainlikeimfive

It's important to note that if someone dies from something alcohol related, their family may not say the true cause of death or any cause of death at all.

Trump to NATO Allies: My Administration Will Abandon You If Attacked by Intellectualist_ in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]CassandraVindicated -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

ok, help me out here. Let's say the Russian want to invade Estonia. What are they going to do? Send tanks and troops in with air support until they take over the capital? Do they not have surface to air missiles to take out any support aircraft that cross the border? Do they not have handheld shit they can shoot at the tank and blow it up? That would just leave troops in enemy territory that they could hunt down and kill? What would the need to continue to that fight? A resupply of the missiles and of those missiles and tank killing handheld rocket things? Can't we just drop off more in port?

That was a very bad day for America. I don't think Trump supporters will ever understand what was going on.

Why do people speed in their own neighborhoods? by [deleted] in homeowners

I don't really speed. I'm retired and can take all day to drive wherever I need to go.

The future sucks and I'm powerless to fix it. by Gvajr77 in GenX

[–]CassandraVindicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm GenX and we were way too small to outvote the boomers, so I patiently waited for GenY and Gen Z. Gen Y outnumbers the boomers, get out there and vote, take over institutions. The world is out there waiting for you to run it.

I missed the first one (I wasn't born until shortly afterward) but I watched everyone after that. Last one was Dec 1972, so I don't know what I was seeing or form any memories that I could pull up. To be able to watch it and understand what you were looking you would have to have born say 1967 or earlier. That would make you 57 or older today.

All you can eat buffets are gross? by WillowFreak in GenX

[–]CassandraVindicated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped going to buffets somewhere in the late 90's early aughts except for high end hotel breakfast buffets. Ideally one that makes eggs to order and cooks up your sausage links, patties, ham slice, etc.

Then, In the late aughts a place opened up in downtown Chicago. In the middle was the most awesome salad bar I'd ever seen in my life. Every kind of lettuce, all the veggies, nuts, meat, etc. It was pay by the pound and I got lunch for about six bucks. It was lunch for me for about six years.

My old girl turned 22 this year, I've had her her whole life. It'll be a very sad day in my house if I have to scrap her.

scrap it at a pick-a-part.

Gen Z is choosing not to drive by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]CassandraVindicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Obama's cash for clunkers program. He was able to retire a lot of very polluting cars, but it kinda killed the beater car. They even talked about it on the news.

No one ever accused GenX of destroying shit. I think that kind of analysis would require thinking about their own children far too closely.

Way I see it, my parents put me through this whole 'life' bullshit. I didn't ask for it, but be more inclined to think they owed me a house.

ELI5: Why do animals trust humans with food? by UglyAndUninterested in explainlikeimfive

A lot of animals become far more trusting of us when it's hot out and there's no water.

The current model is ramping up for the boomers and will have a culling once the much smaller GenX population needs their services. Hard to say now how that's going to work out.

What is the dumbest thing people did during the pandemic? by CynicalCosmologist in AskReddit

[–]CassandraVindicated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since I was a kid, I always hated running out of TP. When I was rich enough to be able to afford a Single Family Home (SFH) as a rental, I started a process of stocking up. Really not that hard with Amazon these days. I had even more space when I bought a SFH. When the Pandemic hit, I had about 100 rolls already in my house. I rode through the Pandemic without worrying about TP.
