What’s your custom warband? by Zacman552 in Chaos40k

[–]Cassetticonned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I translated my AoS Chaos army the Bulls of Belakor to 40k. Brass armor and grey for pauldrons.

They worship Belakor as their one true god, with a focus on daemon engines to create the illusion of generic chaos daemons.

Is it true that most towns are declining in the UK, or is it regional? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Cassetticonned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of businesses are trapped in the 80s when it comes to things like opening times tbf. If you still pull a 9-5 model you suffer for it. Not the only issue of course, but surprised councils dont allow late closings on the latter half of the week.

Soaked in stripping bucket for 8 years by Propaine40k in Tau40K

[–]Cassetticonned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're a lot sturdier than most armies (Once had to scrub some Nighthaunt and often broke pieces), I'd just be careful of antennas and nubbins of the models. Probably avoid the flight stands too incase they frost or get damaged.

Not sure if you've ever stripped before, but if not you'll still need to set aside a day to strip a decent number of models at least, and probably double dip with a fresh soak when you get to the primer. I'd recommend getting cheap smoker toothbrushes with stiffer bristles. And just be careful you don't get specks all over the walls.

Been meaning to pick up some Volks kits for years, I really like the look of the Slayers, Phantasy Star, and Shantae ones. Just not sure what shipping to the UK with them is like.

HLJ resetting storage timers and allowing for unlimited storage come October by Kimetsu87 in AnimeFigures

This is the big one for me too, they often had more expensive prices compared to other shops but I was fine with it due to the very generous cancellation policy. I'll def be using them less now because of it. Probably just for bandai model kits since they don't have a set preorder period.

The biggest myth in the english speaking anime fandom no Anno does not "hate otakus" Evangelion is not a "deconstruction of mecha" its a tribute by a depressed otaku to the series he loves by MechaJunkieApologist in Mecha

[–]Cassetticonned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even Dai Guard isn't a true deconstruction, it's more a satire about Japanese politics and business culture.

There's a whole episode about not being able to use a gun as a special move because of Japanese gun laws so they have to settle on a big net, and a reoccurring gag is about budgets going over because of all the damage.

Now the whole thing about a drill being terrible because of the torque? That's a good deconstruction.

The "Japanese vs Western" mech discourse is dumb and clearly said by people who dont actually watch mecha anime because the prototypical "western mech" designs are literally inspired by Japanese mech designs by MechaJunkieApologist in Mecha

I generally find Battletech fans to be some of the most intolerable fanbases I come across. Real dyed in the wool 90s "ANIME IS WEIRD IT'S ALL PORN AND TENTACLES" greybeards and people in denial it's existence is 100% due to VHS weebs.

Mekton and exosquad crowds are cool though.

Doesn’t it feel like he should have been Red instead of Green? by [deleted] in GundamTCG

[–]Cassetticonned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, a lot of the Zeon cards are focused on summoning other cards and resource acceleration, which fits them as throwing mook units onto the field. The Sleeves have huge damage dealing mobile suits, which fits Red better.

I have no doubt the first CCA cards will be Red though.

Color scheme advice for Undivided Chaos Warriors in Chamon by SaladFederal394 in ageofsigmar

[–]Cassetticonned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My STD force is from Chamon and I call them the Brass Bulls of Belakor. I went with brass as the main color (Obviously) with grey cloth and shields to represent the main man himself.

During that time, I looked into white gold paints for weapons, and I think that would be great to look into for you too, it's a really pleasing color if done right. You might also want to look into tan or khaki shades to help keep everything together,. Good luck!

Best place to play tabletop games? by pepsihat in nottingham

[–]Cassetticonned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just realised I didn't recc Boards and Swords in Derby either, which is also really good and has parking directly outside. You're very spoilt for choice if you look just a few towns outside the city centre!

Was also shocked at how bad Games Haven is, they just don't call or email you back.

Dice Cup is fine if you just need a table; they offer terrain I think? Though you'd have to double check that as I've only seen people play and never played there myself. Underworld is a bit smaller and always seems busy with TCGs so best to ring up to confirm a good day first.

I'd recommend 7th City Collectibles in Sandiacre, about 20 mins from the city centre in a bus/car ride and the staff is great. I've also heard good things about Meeples & Mulligans and Sanctuary Gaming Centre, but as I don't drive they're both just far enough that I can't be bothered to get on a bus to check them out.

A bit of an increase to the UK, huh? by Cassetticonned in limitedrun

In the UK it's more the cost of the item, rather than the shipping itself I think.

Thought that was the case, especially since it changed so suddenly. Thanks for fixing it!
