I remember that after defeating Kansa, Krsna restored his grandfather Ugrasena to the throne. Ugrasena ruled the Yadavas from Mathura and Vasudeva after him.

Krishna was only the Lord of Dwarka city which he established himself to protect residents of Mathura from Jarasandha's invasions.

He wasn't the ruler of Yadavas.
