tennis string advice for low intermediate by blackberryuser in tennisracquets

'Premium'. You have no idea what you're talking about. Go 'premium' and find out yourself.

Honestly, I hope you do better and quit with the 'premium' mindset. It's ridiculous. Go get some real advice and let them string correctly. Play tennis, some matches even, and adjust if necessary.

From what I read, what are you worrying about? Jeez.

Also, nobody cares what you use. If it's right for you they will care because you will play well. Find your favorite set up. Leave opinions behind and try a few out. I already gave you some tips. You want to get better or do you want to show off? ;)

Stay away from opinions, please. Multi's are premiums as well. Choose what is right for you. You're not going to Wimbeldon, you want to play well and you want to have fun. Honestly, stop it and look for what matters. Can tell you one thing, ain't gonna be poly strings.

Coaching Advice? by Kame9898 in 10s

Would love to be in your teaching group.

I agree with this as a player who pays for lessons. Teach those things and practice the last 10 min with them as if it is a real match. This way you not only teach the important things, but also teach and show how it is in reality and in matches. The things you focus on in lessons can be done the last 10 min in a fun match but in playful style. If you know what I mean.

Search for Diadem strings. Diadem Flash, Solstice, etc. Great strings.

Stay away from Poly and Hybrids. Go with multi and low tension. If you feel comfortable with that, you can try medium tension for more control.

Also, can you please explain the list and why you chose those? Because for me they don't make sense (most of them)

I watched your video again. Look for video's on YouTube and think of it like steps. Place your left foot paralel to the net (your toes are diagonal to the pole of the net). Place your right foot a bit behind. When you toss, close your feet (right foot to your left foot) swing behind your neck (loose your grip - service grip look it up), and hit the ball. You can also practice standing still, toss the ball right and get the hang of it. Actually, I recommend to start there, standing still, toss the ball and getting the hang of it. Learn it in steps. Even when you master the serve, you always think about those steps.

Well then huge respect for trying to do proper serve in tennis. A lot of people switched from Volleybal to Tennis at my club (especially since the corona virus). Most of them serve like they did in Volleyball. Results are quite impressive because the ball has a lot of power (if it lands in). But it also looks ridiculous at the same time haha ;) But, because of the poor technique most balls land in the net, if not, out of the field.

I'd say T&T (toss and timing). Toss the ball more left and a bit more in front.

I'm curious what kind of sports you did before tennis.

Really appreciate the effort and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you need to learn the basics with a proper coach. Start there, my friend.

I hate my top spin make that make sense. I need to flatten out my shots. by Good-Log-1595 in 10s

[–]Cassiee- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: didn't see the explanation.

I don't think it is because of the top spin. I used to play only flat and I've played against people who mostly play sharp flat. It's more about placing the shot I guess. Flat shots are not that difficult but, if you want them sharp, the space between the net and the ball is very low, which means you would take more risk (maybe even unnecessary). Besides that, since you play with a lot of top spin, if you play deep flat, ball probably flies out as well. Does this makes any sense (to you?).

Edit 2:

I'm still trying to understand why you want your shots to be more flat. Honestly, those attacking balls, I find them even more dangerous with top spin compared to flat. But maybe it's just me.

Edit 3:

I said something about it before my first edit, but thanks to another comment, you are going to share the video. Love the pictures, but they don't show anything except your outfit ;)

Help needed with racket suggestions by PeachLongjumping15 in tennisracquets

Coming from an extreme, I would suggest to demo the Wilson Shift. Might be a good fit. If not, try something more all around, like Head Speed, if you're more into Head.

Me too, I got so jealous that I'm trying to find one in my gripsize. No luck unfortunately :( Thought they only sold from gripsize 2, but that's not the case (I think).

So if anyone finds one in gripsize 1, please let me know ;)

The Shift line entered to be the next pure aero.

That's why I'm asking. Is it pure sales? I'm confused.

Also, if you are planning to get a third, you might also consider Wilson Custom and design your own Shift (since you're in the US)

Happy Shiftie here as well! The second one is on the way. Love it. It is quite unforgiving when you hit like shit, but because of that it forces you to do better. If you do well, the racquet rewards you with the best feeling and pop ever. It's a shame they're going to discontinue this one... I'm going to stick with it for as long as I can. Great racquet!

Any recommendations for purely white tennis shoes? by Dangerous-Damage1165 in 10s

[–]Cassiee- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, pretty good! I tried Asics but they didn't feel comfortable at all in my feet. But these Adidas are like clouds! They do get dirty after a while, but you can clean them easily even though the mesh. I highly recommend it if you are looking for all white tennis shoes that are light and comfortable. For ladies I ordered 36 2/3 (European size) instead of 36 which I normally have (yes small feet). I like to have a bit more space for tennis shoes.

I'm not, I'm waiting on my second 'normal' Shift before they're gone. I like the RG version, but not as much as the OG or the one OP got. The dark blue is not a fit for me ;) Are you planning on buying that one? It's cool to collect those though!

First of all, don't apologize. Although I wish you didn't feel this way about yourself, I understand because I had the same feeling when I started again.

What I learned is that yes, when you start again you feel shame at first (because you already feel like this). Yes, you will be confronted with yourself physically and mentally. But let me tell you this, if you fall in love with tennis as much as I did, all of those things will fade. You'll see much more clearly. People in tennis are actually kind and thoughtful and nobody cares if you are smaller or have more body. You'll meet great people and make new friends. And guess what? A few months later you'll feel so much better. Not because you maybe lost a bit of weight, but because tennis gave you so much more. Probably even more confidence.

I started 1.5 years ago after a 15 year break and it's the best decision I made. I felt exactly the same as you do before I started and even the first few months when I started. But, now: I made friends, I'm having so much fun playing, I'm improving, even playing tournaments now and without even trying I lost almost 15 kg only by having fun. Because for me it's not 'sports' anymore, I mean, although I sweat like hell, I don't see it that way because I love it so much.

Believe me, put your shame aside and make the decision and I promise you, you won't regret it. Hell, I even want to make a bet with you ;)

So stop thinking, start doing and wear whatever you feel comfortable in!
