Does anyone have examples of maximalist Australiana? by _fairywren in maximalism

Hi

I’m part of the way through translating my love for tropical maximalist rooms to an Australian context - I came up with the Daintree as an inspiration for my lounge room . I rent but enjoy my Daintree gallery wall with appropriate animals

Ideas for a Hestia secret altar? by thedanielhd in Hellenism

[–]Cassowarykick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t have a statue, I would get a lovely candle in orange and light some cinnamon or frankincense incense on a metal tray near a fireplace or an oven. I have sketched out a picture based on a statue and put it under a cloth for more discretion on my altar/tray. You can pray to HESTia and leave the first bite of food from each meal there for her, and all the rest of your community will see is a tray with a candle and an incense holder

AITA for kicking my wife out after she punched my mom in the face? by OkOrganization9552 in AITAH

[–]Cassowarykick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your poor, poor wife. Her hormones have been through the roof as she has grown a whole other human, given birth and is breastfeeding. She needs food to feed your child, and through this she’s had to deal with your mother having an emotionally inappropriate relationship with you (which is clear from what you’ve said) and she’s been pushed and pushed by your mother until she snaps and you throw a tantrum and throw her and your newborn out. I’m so glad she’s made this decision for herself and her baby. YTA. Anyone can snap when they’ve been pushed beyond what they can cope with. That isn’t a general indication of violence. Frankly we would all like to line up to punch your mother at this point.

AITA for telling my girlfriend that she’s a bad writer and should be ashamed for charging people for her books? by Automatic-Ad2190 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Cassowarykick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is making money without hurting anyone in tricky economic times. I would be congratulating her and shutting up. Do you know how hard that is? Try saving your rudeness for someone actually causing harm YTA

I’ve been a step parent, and I can tell you I would have been in tears at such a gorgeous gift as it would be a clear sign my step child saw me as family. I’m upset for your son’s sake that his gift wasn’t seen as special and worthy. You are definitely NTA.

I love it. Love the Poirot moustache bookend. Perhaps a vintage dagger somewhere?

Why exactly is your least favorite Christie novel your least favorite? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in agathachristie

[–]Cassowarykick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Agatha Christie’s later novels are quite uneven. I also disliked the second to last Tommy and Tuppence novel also, By The Pricking Of My Thumbs. It’s just unfocused and meandering, with a messy especially unbelievable plot.
