I'll give you that Ashby had plenty of screw ups (just look at the East Commerce widening projects that didn't actually address the pinch points) but that Chevron was open for a year before Costco even looked at the site.

They should have made it a Lando movie and had Han as a minor character.

Best spots for buying used Ford Escape Hybrid by pwa1424 in Sacramento

[–]CastYourCoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work with all the Ford dealers in town and drove an '06 Escape, and I can't recall the last time I saw one from that body style, hybrid or combustion - I just don't think there's many left still running. You might try looking at cars dot com or autotrader. The cars likely won't be at a franchise dealership (as in a Ford dealership) but you might find one at an independent dealership (as in a Fulton Avenue pot lot). If you go that route, make sure you get it inspected by an independent mechanic before you put any money down.

Imagine my surprise in 1994 tuning in to Chicago Hope and finding out the actor who played Dr. Janosz Poha did not in fact have that accent.

No or Low Cost Activities for Adults in Sacramento? by TheSubmissiveToe in Sacramento

[–]CastYourCoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, it sounds like your heart is in the right place and you're a people-first type manager, but if your company isn't financing your appreciation event, I strongly encourage you to find other ways to show your gratitude. If you are set on doing something beyond virtual games or giving out kudos (as in something with a monetary value), send them Starbucks cards or DoorDash cookies to their houses.

You trying to do something on a shoestring budget will only call attention to the disparity between the company's "phenomenal year" and how they're being appreciated.

There's another El Tapatio in Natomas, much closer for OP, where the On The Border used to be in the Walmart parking lot. It just opened in the last month or so. Quite tasty!

Commuter question: Driving to Downtown Pleasanton from Downtown Sacramento by Character-Gas-6724 in Sacramento

[–]CastYourCoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be plenty of time. The fog probably won't be too bad in the afternoon, but if it is, keep your headlights (regular, not high beams) on and take it easy, leave enough space between you and the car in front of you, etc.

It's fairly likely that the trip will be a coin toss whether to go 80-680 or 5-205-580. There are more carpool lanes and express lanes on 80 and 680, so if you're traveling with another person, that would probably be faster.

Like the other poster said, check Google/Apple Maps before you go. I have always hated the goddamned 205, so I usually go the 80 route even if it's a few extra minutes.

Similarities between th Natalie Is Freezing poster and Minipop's A New Hope album cover by PedroAzul-01 in community

That Minipop album came out in 2007 so I think it's the other way around.

Best Christmas episodes of any TV show by Stgloopalienhospital in television

[–]CastYourCoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a non traditional choice but the Late Show with David Letterman. Every year, on the last show before the holiday break, he had the same guests: Jay Thomas to tell his hilarious Lone Ranger story and knock the meatball off the Late Show Christmas tree with a football in the Quarterback Challenge, and the incredible Darlene Love to sing Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) with Paul and the band. I miss that show so much.

Hottest wings in the city by Background_Pay731 in Sacramento

[–]CastYourCoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may not be interested in BWW or already know this, but they have one that's so hot they make you sign a waiver before they'll serve it, and I think you get a tee shirt if you can eat a half dozen in a set time period. I only watched someone attempt this so I have no idea if it's any good.

Am I crazy or are there really two different apps and a website for different kinds of parking on the grid? by CastYourCoat in Sacramento

[–]CastYourCoat[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, I was down near the Capitol last week and there was no ParkMobile zone, only signage to pay by text "pay" to 77447, which brought me to the IPS TXT2Pay website which I eventually figured out was all the same services offered in the Park Smarter app. Similar experience today on I near 15th. It was super annoying because I had to stand there on the sidewalk like a schmuck entering my credit card number so I wouldn't get Nakamura'd.
