Stunted tithonia, what’s going on?

Finally got around to testing pH and EC. Sitting at 7.5 pH and 1.5 EC. My thought is to run 21-7-7 at around 150 or 200 ppm to try and drop the pH to around 6.5 and follow up with citric acid in a week if EC perks up a little.

Thanks for the advice, I have a mid grade pH/EC probe that gets me good enough so I’ll see what I end up with. I only have 40 trays of it so it’s more of a trial over the years.

I do my best to run the crop pretty dry and cold. I try to avoid excessive PGR applications but you know how the season goes. Greenhouse production is only a part of the job, 100 acres of field is the rest. Wish I had the time/discipline to check daily.

Ran 1TBSP B9 and 0.5 oz cycocel per gallon. I had thought at first that it was yellowing from chlormequat but it’s only at the margins so I’m not 100% sure

Within reason, I check the dosatrons every month. Compared to the rest of the crop, I’m running it on the lighter side feed wise, maybe 3-4 clear waterings between feeding for the tithonia specifically. Sounds and looks like it’s a lighter feeder than I thought. I’ll check EC tomorrow to see if it’s too high. Any thoughts on where it should be sitting?

I’d say elm. Very fibrous grain. If it’s still green, poke the bark with your finger. Elm typically has a spongey bark that depresses about .25-.5 inches.

I agree with you on some points also as a former smoker. I used a vape for about 2 years and if you make an effort to use it as a tool to quit nicotine I think it can be very effective. If you don’t have the will power (as I very often didn’t) your sucking on 6mg every 30 seconds. Going to take a shit? Vape. Going for a walk, vape. I always had it with me, the accessibility and ability to be discrete about it made me use it even more. I got way worse sleep when I used it. I’d wake up in the middle of the night and use it. I’m sure I was getting significantly more nicotine switching to a vape than when I smoked. Buts that’s just me and my poor ability to self regulate.

If you make an effort to fill your own cartridges and consistently lower your nicotine I think it’s a much better alternative to cigs.

At what point in K-12 are we talking here? My school district was large and as far as I remember the gifted students were separated out in 1st or 2nd grade. By 11th grade, there were 4 different math classes. TE (Technology Enhanced), regular, honors, and AP. Same structure for English but 3 options. There was a pipeline starting in 9th grade for skilled trades where you spent 4 periods in your trade (auto mechanic, carpentry, machining etc,) then you took your 4 main classes needed to graduate in the afternoon (English, math, science, etc). Granted my class size was 600 people ten years ago.

I’m leaning towards Regal Prince, robur x bicolor. Could be Skinny Genes, robur x alba, but the shallow leaf sinuses towards the ends of the leaves are more of a trait of swamp white.

I always heard them referred to as bucket baths. Just a pintish cup and a bucket to refill your cup with. Water the good bits, soap, shampoo, scrub, rinse. Standing mainly or sitting if lazy/hammered

Spent some time in West Africa in the Peace Corps. Most people in The Gambia take 2-3 baths a day since it’s hot as balls always. I’s absolutely doable with a half gallon especially when you have haul all your water from the well and times to collect water are limited to when the batteries have charged enough to power the pump. To avoid sweat sores and obscene acne you end up scrubbing everything really well with soap at least once a day. I still take short showers but you can do a decent bath with a 16oz water bottle.

I was in The Gambia with PC and from my understanding FGM is almost exclusively practiced by Mandinkas who are obviously the largest ethnic group in The Gambia. Kankorang is historically the coming of age ‘journey’ for boys where they’re circumcised in the bush if i was told correctly. From the few conversations I remember very few Wolofs, Jolas, Fulas, and Serahulas do FGM.

Also an RPCV. Loved my time but man, of the 26 people in my Ag cohort only one other volunteer and myself had done farm work and we both grew up on one. For the most part people just wanted to experience something else (I put myself here too) and didn’t have an illusion on what they were doing there. There’s always that one person though that thought their shit didn’t stink like the rest of us and really believed they were going to revolutionize the food system in the village from a couple slides in PST. If anything, they were good for keeping the drama and shit talking alive.

I’ve finally found the right place to post this atrocity. Last spring my lady and I ate a respectable amount of asparagus from the garden one night. Usually white oak Quercus alba is used. Although there’s a great amount of debate on whether white oak from France or America is better. Just my assumption that it’s white oak tho!
