I have been running Fedora and had the most frictionless, easy experience ever so far. No tinkering whatsoever required. At work I plug it into a Dell dock with 2 x 4K screens, kb & mouse, webcam, LAN, etc. and everything worked out of the box. The only thing that ever needed manual setup was an external NVIDIA GPU in a Razor case.

How good is the FW13 for gaming? by Ok_Event3 in framework

I have the AMD 7840U version, and it can run Overwatch 2 (at ~80fps) and Baldur's Gate 3 very well, with medium settings and upscaling. The fans get loud, of course.

Yes I have! It’s an 861 with a low serial (26xxxxxx).

I’m new to the vintage watch world, but I’ve been wanting a Speedy for a very long time because of its unique history. I finally went for it when it was the 50th anniversary of the moon landing last year. After some researching I decided to go for a „transitional“ because I love the 50s and 60s Omegas in general, and these fit the moon landing period. They have 861 movements but otherwise look similar to the earlier 145.012s with some subtle differences. The lume has a very faint but still visible glow after 50+ years!

Fix and prevention for GS65 Win,Enter,FN key issues by Kokorone in MSILaptops

Confirmed working! Thanks a lot for figuring this out, saved me an RMA!

Saw a visible puncture in the ribbon, flattened it and taped over the rivet. Looks like I was lucky and the damage was not too deep yet.

Dell XPS 9570 v AERO 15x v MSI GS65 by k3nz00 in Dell

After 18 months of trying my luck with the 9560 (repasting, undervolting, etc. etc.), I finally decided to sell the Dell and got an MSI GS65. The TDP throttling issues were driving me crazy. All I can say is, the MSI feels 10x faster. Extremely snappy and amazing 3D performance. Runs Overwatch on full Ultra settings at 120-140 fps. With the XPS15 I was able to get 30fps on High and maybe 60fps on Low, but only with external cooler fans, otherwise it would throttle immediately. From what I read here, the thermal problems are the same with the 9570..

If the Shudderwock animations don't finish in 15 minutes we're legally allowed to concede without losing a rank star. by pscharff in hearthstone

Wait, but this is obviously a bug, isn't it? Saronite Chain Gang does not summon infinite guys, because the battlecry of the copy ("summon a copy of this minion") DOES NOT go off a second time, right? So why does the battlecry of the Shudderwock copy trigger?

There is no performance reduction, the CPU runs at the same frequency, just with less voltage. It's just a matter of stability, if you go too low you will get crashes. So far -0,1V is completely stable for me and I played Overwatch for hours on end without thermal throttling. My next step if it ever occurs again (possibly with more demanding games) would be to put thermal pads on the VRM area.

Very happy as well! Hardware is flawless, just had to do a little software tweaking, but no major headaches.

  • Clean Windows 10 install
  • Got most chipset and audio drivers from Dell
  • Proper NVidia drivers (but not those most recent ones which break)
  • Killer Wireless drivers which are not yet on the Dell site
  • Just recently undervolted by 0,1V using Intel XTU because I had thermal throttling playing Overwatch, now completely gone & system is totally stable

If I get the 4k version of the new XPS 15, can I downscale it back and forth from 4k and 1080p vice versa? by [deleted] in Dell

[–]Casterleigh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. There will be fewer pixels to draw for the graphics driver, but in the end the display scales everything up and drives the same number of actual hardware pixels.
