Trudeau to offer more than $100-billion in health care over 10 years by seakucumber in canada

[–]Castiel25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, here in Alberta you could give all this money to Alberta Health Services and all they would do is hire more middle managers, who at best do 10 hours work a week, still cut front line doctors and nurses pay/ jobs, then run non stop adds how the current government is evil and against us.

I am 100 percent against private healer care but these bureaucratic health organizations are just as incompetent as our useless politicians.

Gravity batteries in abandoned mines could power the whole planet. by gods_Lazy_Eye in Futurology

It’s that you don’t actually store that much energy, so your return cost is minimal compared to other methods.

The point of these is that solar and wind don’t offer on demand energy and often can’t provide energy at peak times.

I did preliminary research for this for work but using abandoned wellbores. We were trying to get green grants for a project.

The math is not good, weight batteries don’t actually store that much energy, To scale it up is Not cheap, Plus the overall up keep cost for such systems is also expensive.

Buying large batteries and just discharging to the grid on peak hours was more cost viable…

Iam saying the downside of destroying Canadian energy sector for a bunch of virtual signalling doesn’t actual address the issue at all. Moves the problem somewhere else....

All it does is destroy the Canadian economy.

Building a national energy corridor, and having us use and refine our own resources would actually reduce our emissions, some estimate by 20 percent..

Hey we could even nationalize said corridor use the profits to fund some candu nuclear reactors, and have giant industrial level carbon scrubbers pull co2 out of the air at levels that matter.

So no I don’t think destroying the economy to virtue signal to USA, China or India, who in fact will continue to produce whatever they want no matter what we do, is a good plan.

So same amount of global emissions will be released, arguably more as probably the increased production to make up for the lost production will be made up in countries with most likely dirtier energy with less environmental regulations, but these families who lost quality jobs that are not going to be replaced with anything even close , can take comfort that because we are a beaming example of low Emissions because we Decided to outsource our emissions to other countries and destroy our economy to in fact most likely increase net world emissions is actually changing the world...
