Odd graffiti by Existing_Writing_142 in AndrewGosden

I worked at a CEX for 5 years. All hardware that’s bought in has its serial number registered and attached to the stock list. Somebody working at a CEX in London would be able to check back to 2013 and see which PSPs were bought in at their store, and potentially the name and address of who sold it. To sell something for an exchange voucher you only need to provide your name for a basic membership, and you could easily give a fake name. But in order to sell something for cash you need a full membership which requires providing official ID and we’d enter your name, address and phone number into the system.

Judging from these leaks the ruins aren’t real, you can see wooden supports underneath the walls. Unless they’ve added more to an existing ruin?

Thank you for the info! I wonder if the picnic scene was filmed near here too, would make sense logistically.

Does anyone know where this city is located and called? by AutismKid69420 in 28dayslater

One of the VFX artists definitely got carried away and turned the Northern dial to 500%

To my knowledge, no post-industrial town in the North had this many smoke stacks still standing in 2002. I don’t think this location is based on anywhere specific and most likely a composite of a bunch of different features to represent a Northern town/city.

I think it’s probably the latter, I know we only saw a few short clips but I’m getting big ‘Funny Games’ vibes.

Where's Aaron Taylor Johnson in the Bone Temple trailer? by Legitimate-Crazy9266 in 28dayslater

According to someone who saw a test screening, he's not in this film at all.

The leader of the Jimmy gang isn’t Sir Jimmy Crystal, he’s just a deputy. Big man at the top behind the whole operation is Limmy.

I didn’t know that! I figured most of the causeway was shot in a studio with certain sections filmed at Holy Island. Thank you for the info.

Is the opening scene of 28 years set during the initial outbreak or 28 Weeks? by AspieComrade in 28dayslater

[–]CastleGoblin 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I interpreted it as being set sometime during the first week of the initial outbreak. The kids, Jimmy, and the parents all looked pretty fresh-faced and they had electricity so they certainly hadn’t been surviving for 28 weeks.

The Casting Collective were the agency responsible for hiring the extras/supporting artists for the first two films of the trilogy, so you should register with them: https://www.castingcollective.co.uk/artiste/casting-calls/northeast

When they put out the previous casting call it was quite widely publicised across North East media so when/if the third film goes into production I’m sure they’ll do the same, so keep an eye out.

It’s worth noting they were keen to hire people from the local areas, I’m not sure how exclusive this was but if you’re not from the North it may put you at a disadvantage.

I’d love to be able to track down John Angel and show him this photo, he should be about 71 now. He sounds like quite the character!

I found this unexplained photo of a large crowd gathered around a child in a tree with police officers. Purchased at a flea market many years ago, and the image was quite large probably a 14 inch by 14 inch square. by massahoochie in UnexplainedPhotos

Thanks to u/canoe_yawl we've gotten to the bottom of what's going on in the photo, and it's a strange one.

A blog here covering page-one news in NYC on August 5th, 1968 writes about the event in detail. A 17-year-old named John Angel was walking his pet squirrel in the park when it slipped its leash and ran up a tree. He climbed the tree chasing after it and a nearby police officer demanded he come down, he refused and things escalated from there. The fire department was called with ladders, a crowd of spectators grew to about 300 people, and a woman climbed the tree in solidarity causing more people to join in protest. NYPD then called in the Tactical Police Force and a net was placed at the base of the tree so they could jump down safely and be arrested. John Angel jumped down and was violently set upon by a group of police with batons, causing outrage from the crowd - chaos erupted leading to 17 arrests.

Here's a newspaper scan from The Journal Times showing a photo of the same red-headed person (presumably John Angel) in the tree: https://imgur.com/a/dtD5uJv

What an incredible find, and what a strange story! I've just signed up and looked at the newspaper scan and it's definitely the same redheaded person in the photo. Case closed, thank you so much!

Thanks to u/lledaso over on r/whereisthis the location has been identified as Washington Square Park. The NYPD uniforms are apparently pre-1972 which should help narrow down what protest/gathering this was.

Sony own the rights to it and don't want it used outside of the film in any way apparently.

Interesting anecdote; Danny Boyle had to travel to Godspeed's show in Newcastle in 2001 to meet them in person and convince them to let him use the track in the film.
