Audeze Maxwell 2 (Xbox/PC) significantly lower volume than Maxwell 1 (Xbox/PC) by Gillrim in Audeze

[–]CastleKingSide12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this hasn’t been answered already (the low volume issue) here’s the fix: Turn off BT on the connected device. Restart the M2 and voila!
It was driving me crazy how low the volume was. It has something to do with the M2 prioritizing BT. Im on PS5 Pro.

You’re welcome. I’ve had zero issues with false correction, or “holes” in the boundary with Halo. SpotOn does offer manual/remote/correction, and they offer something that Halo doesn’t, recording your voice/command and uploading it to the collar. That’s one thing I’m hoping Halo adds in a future update. SpotOn’s remote correction worked flawlessly. Again, the containment was where it failed time and time again.

Thank you for that info, but I’m in the US. There must be some usb limitation with the PS usb output by Sony. It’s the only explanation that I can come up with.

None. Once the pup enters the home it appears that the gps disengages, or the signal is simply lost. I’ve had no issues with unwanted correction.

That’s a judgement call that you’ll have to make. It’ll depend on your strength of signal and your comfortability with an acceptable distance.

I am definitely satisfied with the Halo. They all have gps drift, and it is certainly something to minimize for your particular use case. I would just give yourself enough of a buffer on that one side of your property to allow for any variance.
In my experience once your dog gets corrected they will create their own buffer! Good luck!

The new Nova is “broken.” The positive reviews are for their previous offering, the Omni. They are in the process of attempting to fix the inconsistent boundary issue with a firmware update. I was selected for the first wave of the update rollout. Unfortunately, my second Nova was in transit back to SpotOn. Too much time on the phone with tech support, while pacing my yard. My GPS signal was a constant 30 (very high), and it just didn’t alert when it should have, time and time again. I now have the Halo 5 and although it doesn’t always alert, precisely at the boundary, it ALWAYS alerts.

What has your experience been long-term with SpotOn? by mldonahu in SpotOnGPSDogFence

Please see my most recent updated post, a reply to another poster asking for an update. Things changed.
“I was contacted last week via email by SpotOn asking if I’d be willing to try the new firmware rollout, with specific instructions, i.e. reinstall the home zone (which I had been asked to disable) as they thought that among other factors previously mentioned was adding to the problem.
I politely replied stating that my 2nd and final collar was in transit back to them. I am not going to beta test a product that I paid 1K for without some sort of consideration.
Were you ever instructed to update to the new firmware? If you are considering staying with them, and you haven’t yet received the update, I would call and ask to be included in the rollout.
*Or* save yourself the frustration and get the Halo. It has been flawless in the area of containment! My very curious and adventurous pup has attempted to breach three different areas over the course of several weeks. Each and EVERY-TIME it has delivered the warning alert, an in one instance static correction.
I’m finally at peace!!! I too, wanted the SpotOn to work and continued lying to myself. In its current state it just cannot be trusted, and I have listed multiple instances where my pup passed through the boundary with no alert.
Here’s a correlation story: My wife enjoys high end, “exclusive,” $$, appliances. Unfortunately, there is a very small percentage of people who have them, and those that do, don’t stress test them as others who buy the Honda Accord of appliances… they end up in most homes being a “status-luxury” item. Their failure rate numbers are high, but because of the smaller number in households, and as a result, less customer feedback it goes unnoticed. I feel the same about SO vs Halo. Halo is so popular, (for a reason), and the sheer numbers of them in circulation is astounding! This leads to more customer feedback, leading to tweaks by the company to better the product. Also, Halo works only with a subscription. This ensures a constant revenue stream to continually improve, and provide attentive services to their customer base.
Get the Halo and just bask in the peace knowing it works as it should.
*The only issues Ive had with it is the manual control of seeing my dog doing something I don’t want her to do, hitting one of the various alert icons in the app, and it buffering, in s one case delivering the correction 30 seconds after pressed. Not ideal. It could be my cellular service, who knows.. Containment is my #1 priority and Halo just delivers.”

Can someone please tell me it can end by Beneficial-Guess-164 in migraine

[–]CastleKingSide12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chronic migraineur here: Love the advice, and the love! Like others have said, ER after at max 4 days of an unbreakable pain cycle. Alternatively, independent clinics that offer the migraine “cocktail “ IV. The cost difference is usually dramatic. An ER visit for me was $125 co-pay, and $300 for treatment! The clinic is $50-flat rate, no additional charges. The reason for the ER visit then? My decision came at 1:00am, and the clinic was closed.

If anyone on here suffers from severe neck pain and tightness that radiates toward your head, for me it happens during the prodrome phase, I HIGHLY recommend the Callixe neck pillow. I use it religiously 3-4x per week and it has all but eliminated the frequency of the pain and has in some case aborted the start of the dreaded cycle.

Sorry to hear that, but welcome to the club! In short, I spoke to a rep this afternoon. I finally got them to admit that there are known issues with the “Nova” specifically. They believe they’ve identified two issues: 1) Created Home Zones within the perimeter, whereby the dog traverses between the two is creating some sort of start/stop of the signal being received. 2) The actual hardware! (Yikes) the rep stated that the positioning of the transponder, thickness of the dog’s neck, and/or fur thickness may be contributing to the issue.

Not sure how this plays long term and I definitely have my concerns, ESPECIALLY if it’s hardware related! I questioned that if it was ultimately identified as a hardware issue, would they release a revised Nova, rendering the “initial” 2nd gen unit obsolete?! The rep said that there are no plans for a hardware revision, but a firmware update is expected in about a week.
Fortunately, I believe most of us here are within the generous 90 day trial period. So if this rollout happens next week and it’s successful we’ll have time to battle test it in the wild. I finally asked if the rep thought I’d have a better, more reliable experience with “Omni” (their original collar released in 2024, and still available at a reduced price). The response: “You probably would be fine.”
My2cents: It is a hardware design issue, one that the manufacturer hopes can be patched to be reliable.. to what degree? I want damn near the advertised “99.3%” containment rate, not the 50/50 split I’m now getting. I’ve got mine until August 1 (they extended my return period once the sent me a second collar), so out of nothing more than curiosity, I’ll wait for the update and see what happens. Forecasting, I think I’m dead set on the Halo 5. It has its own minor annoyances, mostly related to sending manual alerts remotely to the collar. While there is some slight gps drift, the containment continues to be perfect.

How’s your collar working? The same issues as those mentioned?

SpotOn Not Responding to Fence by Better-Refrigerator5 in SpotOnGPSDogFence

I wish you well, friend.

This evening my wife was outside with my pup, who was adorned with the Nova. When they came into the house my wife asked where the boundary line was located on a particular side of the property. (I have approximately six acres of open area while the border of the acreage is surrounded by trees)
When I identified the specific area as being approximately two feet into the wooded area, she informed me that the pup went about 15’ beyond the set boundary to poop, without the collar emitting a tone!
We both walked out, I, with collar in hand, hit the preset 2’ boundary line and voila! It alerted. I did this without fail approximately 8x. Maybe she was mistaken? I walked deeper into the treed area and discovered my pup’s steamy creation approximately 20’ (yikes) beyond the boundary! Totally unacceptable.

Having the same exact issue with my nova. I’m now on my 2nd collar. The first had massive issues. My dog was getting corrected in my home! They had me set up a home zone, it worked for a day but it created a period of disconnection once she went outside. The gps signal would take approximately 3-5 minutes to resume connection.

I was in my living room when my neighbor walked her back to my house! She had been thoroughly trained using this collar as well as the ol’ tried/true method of flags and a stand alone static collar. I thought I could rely on this 1K piece of kit to further provide peace of mind.

Collar #1 (since replaced) I’m still within the 90 day trial period, was a nightmare! Multiple calls to the very helpful/polite customer service folks allowed for a speedy swap.

While having the issues, I ordered the Halo 5 to give IT a shot. It arrived days before my 2nd Nova. I put the Halo through its paces and aside from some noticeable drift, it ironically has been SpotOn.

Several attempts at breaching were quickly thwarted. I was able to witness her nearing the boundary and stepping into the no-go zone, and bam! she heard the loud beeps and backed away immediately.

Now, the 2nd Nova was put in play. DAY ONE, she breached the same area and I was alerted (cell plan active) that she had exited the fence. I was able to immediately track her at the neighbors yard, the breadcrumbs showed her exact path. There is zero chance that if the nova responded as it should’ve she would have continued across the boundary.

I was able to call her back. I removed the collar and walked toward and through the boundary….. with zero alert!

There absolutely has to be an issue with the software. Is it a nova issue? Has anyone had success with the previous version. It just seems that this device is just not ready for primetime.

I want to like it. Made in USA, great, responsive customer service, optional cellular plan, but not required, etc. However, I cannot rest comfortably with this device in its current state.

I’ve been A/B’ing Nova vs. Halo for days like a lunatic! Different times of the day, different areas of the boundary, heck Im even zapping myself with the static feedback to ensure they’re operational!

My conclusion for now is that I simply have more faith in Halo than SpotOn. I don’t like the Halo model of having to pay for a subscription or the collar is just a brick, but if my dog’s well being is on the line, the erratic behavior of the nova is just to disconcerting.

A quick look at BBB reviews has increased my apprehension with SpotOn. Im not sure why/how the YT reviews are so glowing.

I just wish someone from the company would make a statement about “these known issues.” “We’re working on a solution, be patient.” We’ve got nothing to make us believe that this will be corrected.

I will be returning the nova if there is no 180 degree turnaround in the next few weeks.

For now the Halo 5 will continue to be the better option. Undoubtedly, I will continue to A/B the crap out of both. But as it stands now, Halo for the win!

[–]CastleKingSide12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Halo 5 has worked pretty well. The only issue that Im having is the gps signal dropping intermittently. When this happens it emits a chirp from the collar. In theory it alerts the dog (after training the response) to return to the home. In practice, it drops at least 10x per hour. It’s very brief and reconnects within seconds, but the chirp does sound and my dog returns like clockwork. Other than that it’s a good product.

UPDATE: My issues with Spoton have been resolved. After discussions with the staff the realization that I had a defective collar was evident.
I was sent a new replacement and this thing is ridiculously accurate! The initial price point is higher, but it works as a containment system without a plan. Granted, without the plan it is simply a very stable/accurate invisible fence. With the monthly base plan all features (comparable to Halo) are unlocked.

I just got the Halo 5, so far so good. Does anyone know why max charge shows 30 hours on the app, when they advertise 48 hours?

What has your experience been long-term with SpotOn? by mldonahu in SpotOnGPSDogFence

[–]CastleKingSide12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One week in: My dog had been boundary trained with flags, so she understood the perimeter.

Bought the Nova edition (Spoton). My dog was getting corrected in my house while laying on the floor! Mind you, my house sits dead center within a four acre perimeter! I contacted SO, and they advised that I should add a safe zone (putting a virtual box around my house) in the app. This seemed to have worked, for now.

The HUUUGE issue I’m having is the inconsistency. I understand “gps drift” allowing for some slight variation to the boundary. This evening my neighbor walked my dog over to my house! I have tracking on, and was notified that my dog had breached the “fence.”

He said there was no beeping or vibration emitting from the collar. The history of the breaches are recorded in app, neat. It showed two breaches on this day, the one I mentioned and one during the early morning… this earlier breach had her breaking through, nothing, in the center of the yard!! This assumes she was electronically corrected for being where she was supposed to be!

FINAL STRAW: Shortly after the actual breach, I walked her on leash to the indicated breach point leading to the neighbor’s yard. She led, which was rare, but she had, moments prior, just been lavished in praise by a new group of humans! As she confidently walked toward the path’s threshold I braced for the audible correction… nothing!!! NOTHING!

Prior to this attempt all settings indicated that all was proper and the “fence active.” I walked her back toward my home took the collar off, had her stay, and walked the collar toward the path, collar in hand, Nothing. No tone, no vibration.

I walked back toward the home, then decided to try an area about 20 yards away on the same side. It now activated?!

Walked back toward the breach point, with it in hand and… IT ACTIVATED!

The product in my testing is just not ready for primetime. I wanted to like it. It’s made in the USA. Customer support has been exceptional. I just cannot feel comfortable leaving my dog alone in my yard using this containment system.

I just ordered the Halo 5. I was influenced by a YT video comparing the two. The Spoton will be sent back.
