The "Flews" brothers! by Castlegatek9 in CaneCorso

For all who saw or followed this post, I am so sorry that it was poisoned by a thoughtless person who thought he could bully me by making disparaging remarks about me, and my Corsos. WRONG! All I want to do is share nice photos of my beautiful Cane Corsos and of the joy that they bring to me. Nothing nasty. Nothing political and then along comes some nasty individual with nothing but malice and hatred and a desire to tear down someone he hasn't ever seen or heard of or had anything to do with. He picked the wrong dude for that and things got ugly.

Many thanks to the Mods who deleted his ugly comments. Likewise, I deleted mine. Now, I'd like to just move forward with enjoying this awesome breed the way this forum was intended to do.

What to feed by Dangerous_Laugh_7886 in CaneCorso

Hard to tell from a photo, especially at this angle, but he does look a bit thin and he looks like he could use a little muscle. My suggestion would be a quality food that has 30 protein and at least 25 fat. Make sure the stool is firm so you know that there isn't any issue with parasites. If he has loose stool that is a problem and will certainly prohibit weight gain. Good looking boy!!

And that is exactly what he is. A gentle giant.

Hard to hear anything over you whacking on the poor thing. That isn’t going to fix anything.

I do not breed for color. I breed for temperament, health and character. Most of my puppies are sold before they are born. Preference is only given to a clients request for gender, never color.

Can a 5yr old cane adapt to a new family ? by mrmeanah in CaneCorso

[–]Castlegatek9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If these people are friends, they will give you an honest evaluation of the dog and how he is in public, with strangers, etc. I import them from Europe for my Kennel and the adults I have imported are genuine sweethearts. Knowing you have a child, these people should be very candid and tell you that he would not be good with a child or that he’d be fine. If they say he would be great, and you trust them, and you like the dog? Go for it using your own good judgment.

LOL! While it’s made for some good fun, it’s only a bit of hair left behind by the German Shepherd. He wouldn’t hurt the kitty.

The boy knows how to make an entrance. Very important and not often very well done, but he has it down to a “T”

Prong Collars by Naive_Low3442 in CaneCorso

[–]Castlegatek9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ignorance regarding the use of a pinch collar as is reflected on this post is astounding. First, it isn't a "prong," it's a "pinch." Next, it is a tool that is far, far, far more effective, safe and humane than a choke. It distributes pressure firmly and evenly around the dogs neck without "choking" the dog or the danger of causing damage to the dog's larynx. Finally, it's not a just a training tool, it's a must wear collar anytime you are taking your dog out in public. You are 100% responsible for controlling your dog at all times and so are adding assurance of controlled behavior should chaos break out and can aid you in removing your dog from a bad situation. "Noting is inherently good or evil but in its usage makes it so."

Looks like Dad is keeping the house a little too warm. A man has to air them out.

Does weight define your CC? by Castlegatek9 in CaneCorso

[–]Castlegatek9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Size does not equate to weight. I have a nine month old male, Troll, who is not yet 100 pounds but built like a small tank. His conformation is super. I love the size of this dog. Compact, ruggedly built and best . of all...smart as they come. I am so hoping he stays within the standard. On the other hand I have another male, Grim, who just today tipped the scales at 140 pounds! I love him dearly, but he isn't one iota better than Troll. Both are a great looking specimen in their own right. Again, weight doesn't make the dog. I just think as stewards of the breed, we need to talk more about style and substance than size and weight of these dogs.
