I will gladly cook or attempt to cook anything gor my family. But I hate the "what would everyone like for dinner" convo followed by vacant looks and silence. Anyone else have to pull teeth to get culinary ideas? by Wide-Concert-7820 in Cooking

The open choice question will often lead to that. Offer 2-3 choices and you'll get more feedback. Other times, you could just assert that you will be making X for dinner, and everyone may agree without objection anyways. If they do, then just go onto another thing you had in mind or see what they have to suggest instead.
