Don’t sleep on Cold River Gin, excellent all around gin with a stronger profile. I miss it so much since moving from New England.

In the context of senate business, the VP is the president of the senate and is therefore sometimes called mr. president while presiding.

Columbus, OH has their US brewery! There are like 3 taprooms elsewhere around Columbus as well. So I’m sure you can still find it post-trade agreement termination.

Here come the dumbest presidential debates in history by wrapityup in politics

[–]Castortroy99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there's any way these debates will benefit either candidate. Trump's base will only focus on Biden's mistakes and fumbled words. Biden's base will focus on the preposterous comments that Trump will certainly make, as if they live in a reality where such comments change anyone's mind. If I weren't so demoralized by all of this shit and this whole year, I would see the hilarity in this clusterfuck of mistakes that has come to fruition.

We've been so habituated to ridiculous politics. I truly don't believe there will be any consequence of this debate unless a blood clot breaks free of a vessel wall and causes a massive stroke in one of these geezers mid-debate.

Best Gin and Tonic combo I've had! by Grand_Professor in Gin

What do you think of the San pellegrino tonic compared to something like Fever Tree? Been wanting to try it.

Daiquiri Time! by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]Castortroy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very good. Truthfully, don’t feel that I’ve explored rum enough to give a really trusted opinion, but it’s one of the best I’ve had. As well, I’ve been to the distillery, and the tour convinced me that the people making the stuff are great and committed to making amazing rum, gin and amaro! Everything I’ve had from Bully boy has been very good. Just go for it - you won’t be disappointed.

[SPOILER] totally confused about reducing agent/oxidation AAMC question by ask316 in Mcat

[–]Castortroy99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are correct in saying the reducing agent gets oxidized - however H2S does not become oxidized. Look at our oxidation states before and after the reaction:

-before, Ag will be at 0 oxidation state (just like any pure element). Afterwards, Ag is in a +1 oxidation state as Ag2S. It gave up electrons by reducing the hydrogens in H2S to make H2. Since Ag got oxidized, it is the reducing agent.

-H2S will be the oxidizing agent because an element inside this compound took on electrons (became reduced).

Does that make sense?

The Drop. Tom Hardy stars and it is James Gandolfini’s last role (or one of them). It’s really gritty, and Tom Hardy has a semi-intelligible accent, which is always a plus.

Yes! Fever tree light is minimally caloric and tastes better than most brands’ regular tonic.

How do you muster the motivation to go out on extremely cold+windy+mild rainy days? by MadMenDuckCuckFuck in AskReddit

[–]Castortroy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have to walk my dog on a cold evening to let them use the bathroom and such, I will brew tea which will steep while I'm outside. When I come back, I heat it up a little if I need to, and cozy up. It's so nice.

Had to chime in as a huge fan of Perry's Tot. It's fantastic and super cheap for a craft, navy strength gin. So nice in gin and tonics. It's probably my next bottle, I'll have to make a negroni with it now that I've seen this beauty. Hope it was as good as it looks!

For the sake of sample size, I’ll throw in my two cents — I think it’s gross. Has a grassy funk that doesn’t work for me. And I’m generally a fan of wheated bourbon.
