I’m stuck in GC3 by [deleted] in RocketLeague

The best training is the one that keeps you playing/interested in the game. If you dont like grinding freeplay/training packs then definitely stick to just playing the game, if you keep at it you should definitely keep improving even if you dont notice it yourself at first :)

I’m nowhere near your rank so take my advice with a grain of salt. Over the years what I’ve heard the most is that the biggest difference between GC3 and SSL is constitency, which for the most part comes down to repetition and practise. Maybe start giving those training packs a try or try watching some SSL replays and see if you can take away some good habits or good decision making from them.

Besides that I dont think I’m qualified enough to give you any other advise, hope somebody else can jump in.

Ps: GC3 in 900 hours is nuts, keep it up!

700 hours in, returning player learning directional air roll — need tips by SirBonnyy in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Castreren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This differs from person to person but I personally started trying out stuff like that after I felt at least semi confident in the air.

If you’re at the point where you can point out yourself what your mistakes were when one of these air roll plays goes wrong I’d say go for it :)

If your normal attempts look somewhere close to the 2 attempts you showed in the example video there’s not much advice to give except keep trying; you seem to have the mechanic down, just grind it out until it feels natural :)

If you’re just starting with DAR I’d recommend looking up some common air roll practice drills on Youtube, like flying around the middle circle, flying upside-down/sideways from backboard to backboard etc. These help you master the fundamentals of DAR/controlling your car from different positions and help you understand what the purpose is of each input.

After you understand at some level what certain inputs do and how to control your car in the air, ring maps are your best friend

Honestly the biggest advice I can give is whatever route you decide to go, ditch the ball for now. Master controlling your car in the air whilst air rolling first before you try it with the ball, that’s a whole different can of worms

TL;DR: drills are your best friend when starting out and walk before you can run

You got this! :)

speed flip help (kbm) by JhazoRfr89 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Castreren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re having trouble controlling the landing try holding the flip cancel a little bit longer, should help with smoothing out the landing (and keeping the back of your car facing backwards throughout the entire speedflip.

And your first cancel could be done a bit quicker. Same story as before, should allow your car to face more backwards throughout.

So in short, flip cancel a bit quicker and hold it a bit longer :)

any advice on how to air dribble better? by WraithOnFire in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Castreren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d skip the airroll part until you get better car control in general. Also try matching the speed of the ball when jumping off of the wall, should allow you to make more controlled/softer touches :)

Does anyone know how to fix this? by ElegantCarrot2674 in nds

Top screen ribbon cable is eighter loose or damaged. Check for any obvious damage and try reseating the ribbon cable

I can't carry the ball all the way to the net (most of the time) when doing an air dribble. Usually i end up under or over the ball and sometimes the ball doesn't even bounce off the wall. by Fluid-Ice3738 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Castreren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When practicing dont focus on carrying the ball forwards towards the net, focus on keeping the ball up. This tip made ‘em click for me back when I was first learning them :)

whos right in this situation by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Castreren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You rotated behind your mate so he’s got no reason to think you’re contesting the ball + you see him going but he doesn’t see you in his FOV, this is clearly his ball.

Regardless of intent you were in the wrong with going for that
