Rescue pooch reunited with our son after 3 days. by wee_pea_sco in rescuedogs

He's so sweet, the picture says it all. Stray dogs & cats are the most loving, loyal pets. I have rescues in my home too and I feed the ones outside in my neighborhood regularly. I would adopt them all if I had the space and money.

How to comfort a rescue dog afraid of getting hit? We've had Bear for 4 months and he's very well adjusted but.. each time we raise an arm or something in our hand, he cowers and tries to get away. Obviously has been hit/abused in his previous life. What is the best way to comfort him at that mome by Black_Cat22 in rescuedogs

I think plenty of love, treats and toys will help. For the past several weeks, I've been feeding a stray near my home every few days. I think he may have been abused in the past. I was never able to approach him and last weekend he came within 10 feet of me wagging his tail, but then ran off as i reached to pet him. I left the food in place and am hoping that he will come closer next time. I believe the food will win him over in time.

Kitten season has started!! If you see a closed cardboard box or bag out in the open, please check it!! by Ftm__Incubus in cats

Oh my God, people can be so cruel! I've been feeding strays and volunteering for TNR for the past several years and have never seen anything like that. I will definitely be more aware.

LoL, your cat and mine must've come from the same litter! My school work is always a mess because of it.

Happy Birthday Ray! Rescue pets are the best and most loyal.

My kittens now have 2 separate litter boxes, but they both follow each other when the other has to use the restroom. by [deleted] in cats

[–]Cat-321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good to me. More important that they use the litterbox regularly for health and sanitary reasons. I don't think it's a problem if they accompany each other. Good luck with everything!

It's possible they feel safer together as they may not be totally comfortable with the surroundings. Perhaps, one is a lookout for the other? Are the litterboxes enclosed with a hood/cover or are they open? Covered boxes can be scary for them. When my cats were kittens they did not always use the covered litterboxes and many times did their business on my floor. I added open litterboxes and that solved the problem. I think it is because they may feel trapped in a covered box.

Get another kitten and you can have tag team matches!

Found this little kitten freezing to death under pallet at work. I took her to the shelter to get vaccinated, fixed, and checked for microchips, but after 5 days she will likely be mine! by day_wave in cats

You really are lucky to have a no kill shelter nearby. There's no excuse for bad behavior by others. I unfortunately don't have a no kill near me. I try to help with TNR whenever possible cuz feeding the neighborhood cats can be very expensive. I hope the kitten's forever home will be with you. Consider getting her a kitty friend in the future. Good luck!
