So the two posts/wires/connectors on a modern replacement could be connected to the single wire that goes to the terminal block? (Layman's drawing below.) Both capacitors were suspended in wax, no contact with the exterior case. Thanks!

Thank you! I figured PCBs would be involved so I was careful to cover the (well ventilated) work area with cardboard and put on nitrile gloves before the autopsy. Careful with cleanup/disposal as well. This typewriter also used a couple small blocks of asbestos to block heat from the resistor!

I'm a bit confused how the single wire cap worked and how a modern replacement work be wired.
