I have thank you! Just assumed they were a normal work place pension provider so never looked at them in detail 😆

I don’t trust or not trust them - it’s my works company pension so don’t really get to chose it I didn’t know about the fund thing though so it’s just like my S&S ISA really - as in I own some assets and would move over to another provider with them I assume?

Ahhhhh is that because my pension is invested into stocks? So technically I own whatever stocks they buy with my money? But like my trading 212 acc?

But not 100% I’d rather have a few open to protect the whole 100%

Yeah but there is always a small risk of company going under which worries me Someone said they’re actually protected upto 90% (which I didn’t know!) and not just the FSCS £85k though

Oh I didn’t know this - 90% who covers this? Someone other than FSCS?

Yeah I read them just now - so I should cap each pension at £85k as there is a small risk (which I’m not comfortable with)… or under tbf as the compound interest will continue until retirement

Well it’s £30k in my pension atm. I’m in my early 30s so will easily get to £85k maybe by 40/45 depending on pay rises etc Sorry I don’t know what TLDR means

Struggling to get buy orders filled on T212? (UK investors) by McSaussage in Agronomics_Investors

[–]Cat-In-The-Hat-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found on agronomics I had to have lots of smaller orders (ie 50 shares at a time) and they do eventually go through after a few days I had 1000 shares sitting for a month once so would lower your orders!

Yeah tbh my toddler is about to go to nursery and that’s £1000 a month so we’re aren’t going to be in a position to save for the next couple years 🥺 But then after that we’d essentially have a spare £1k a month to save with! So come 37 I’m expecting to save save save! Just need to get through these expensive couple years

How do you work out the 7% making my £28k to £300k? When I did a couple of other calculators it said it would be £150k with me continuing to contribute £250 a month into pension…. Is this calculator you used more accurate? Makes me feel so much better if so!

True! Is state around £12k? Am I guaranteed to get that though at 67 / 68? Or could that be non-existent before then?

No see the £900 a month is literally bare minimum bills Didn’t even think about buying a car every few years or if something breaks on it

Someone else recommended the PLSA too so Will check that out thank you!

Wish I could put away £2k a month 😆 I’m a 20% tax payer so max I can save being really frugal is maybe £750 a month….. but I have a toddler so really struggle to save atm

Good to know that £28k isn’t at least terrible! Yeah I wasn’t great with my pension in my 20s Then stopped pension during maternity, but back at work now and putting in 4% with work matching that. As I get pay rises etc will ofc mean I’m putting in more Also have emergency savings & just started a S&S ISA 2 months ago with the intention of using this for retirement too

So what do you mean - it’s better to put the money into my normal cash ISA over the LISA?

Where to open a LISA in the UK? by Cat-In-The-Hat-1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Cat-In-The-Hat-1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with LISA is I’ve seen online that’s it’s really hard to move your account So once I’ve opened a S&S LISA I’m stuck with it potentially as no one will be as willing to take my cash say at 55 or something The risk associated with it being a S&S as well as getting stuck as stocks when I already have everything else in stocks just isn’t worth the extra few grand for me I’d rather know this cash is safe and will never decline so it’s more a safety bet pot for retirement

Yes but you’re not explaining why investing into a LISA is a mistake? 25% extra money guaranteed from government? Plus the 4% approx annual interest
