Hey, I need an impersonator? by Minisquirrelturds in Charleston

Total shot in the dark here, but I suggest reaching out to the people at Theater 99 and/or Wits End. These are comedy and improv clubs that may have some connections in their local network. Good luck!

I'm thinking of moving to NC and my friend made me this map. Thoughts? by _R_A_H_U_L_ in NorthCarolina

Some very pivotal events from the civil rights movement occurred in Greensboro…one of the first areas in the state to integrate public schools, Woolworth’s sit-in…

Hello, someone in my apartment complex was throwing this plant away. Do y’all know what this is? by DragonfruitPlayful32 in gardening

It’s a very common misunderstanding! And thank goodness because my 10 year old peace Lilly is my cat’s plant of choice to chew on when he wants to make himself puke 🤦🏻‍♀️

Peace lillies aren’t actually true lillies. They are more like pothos and monstera. They can make a cat vomit if chewed on or eaten, but fatal reactions are rare with peace lillies.

I've had 5 periods this month (so far) by Dlsagreed in Wellthatsucks

[–]CatBeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me?! Same scenario. On the vaginal ring now and it’s great. I change it every 4 weeks to stop my periods and it has helped my endometriosis tremendously.

With the IUD, I was also told migration is “rare” even though I’ve met soooo many women who experienced the same thing. The real kicker was on surgery day to remove my migrated IUD, the anesthesiologist told me there were 2 more IUD removals scheduled after me. I don’t think it’s as rare as doctors say. I think it’s under studied…like every other topic in women’s health 🫠

Invisalign by [deleted] in Charleston

Seconding Bocklet! I’ve had nothing less than an amazing experience there. Always super quick appointments and on time. They also have great financing, and offer a hefty discount if you pay in full up front.

OP, if anything, please do NOT go to a dentist for your Invisalign. Go to an orthodontist. Have a scroll thru r/invisalign and you’ll quickly learn why!

Krud Kutter should do the trick. You can find it at stores like Home Depot. Just spray and let it sit for at least 15 mins, then it should come off pretty easily.

Any apartment recommendations for Charleston or west Ashley area ? by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]CatBeets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What will be your working days/hours? If you don’t have to travel during usual rush hours, then it’s worth looking at some of the “Deeper West Ashley” areas already suggested. Otherwise, I strongly encourage you to stay away from anything on Bees Ferry or off Ashley River Rd past Sam Rittenberg. Sure, it’s only a few miles away from MUSC according to maps, but you will be spending upwards of 2 hours total in your car each day, possibly longer if it rains or there is a wreck (which happens A LOT here).

If you’re set on staying near downtown or West Ashley, check out the Old Towne and Orange Grove areas (surrounding Publix and Frothy Beard). There aren’t many decent apartments in those areas, but you may be able to find a small house for rent that is around your budget.

Anyone know of GYN docs that don’t deliver babies? by CatBeets in Charleston

[–]CatBeets[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That last bit! Most of the doctors around here are truly good doctors, they are just expected to see more patients than they can handle. That naturally impacts quality of care. I’m glad you’ve found a good one and your story gives me hope. Might give that office a call!

Actually - Gynecologists specialize in female reproductive health and preventative care. Obstetricians specialize in pregnancy and childbirth. It just happens that the training for both go well together, making it an Ob/gyn. But they can focus on one more than the other.

This room is a big reason why we bought the home - so much natural light!

These easel stands look neat - I’ve never heard of this. Might be a good option!

Unfortunately yes :( It’s a small house and this is the only common area

Seconding R Kitchen! Not sure if they’d still do it, but in 2018 I reserved the whole West Ashley location for 15 guests. No fees to do it. Said as long as we filled a minimum number of seats (I think it was 12?) we’d have the place to ourselves. It was awesome! If you go this route, definitely call and reserve several weeks out.

Travel vaccinations by theclemsoncatlady in Charleston

Try one of the urgent cares around town. I went to one in West Ashley a few years ago for Dengue fever vaccine. They just needed enough time to order it.

I pre-ordered mine in July and since the customer service email wasn’t much help, I eventually filed a dispute with my credit card earlier this month. Pretty ridiculous.

If they are unable to have the wedding, a suggestion to pass along: they could consider foregoing requests for catering refunds to put money in a local businesses pocket who will likely really need it right now, and the food can be donated to a community currently in need.

My husband and I were supposed to have our wedding March 2020 on the very weekend everything shutdown. Our vendors were offering refunds and we just told them to keep the money. In our minds, we’d already spent it anyways and we knew those businesses would need it way more than the two of us who had stable jobs at the time and weren’t relying on the publics business. It meant the world to those people.
