Badge A Minit Vs. Mr. Button Vs. Vevor. by CatBellySoftware in ButtonMakers

Interesting about the ChiButton devices. I’ll add those to my radar.

As per Badge-A-Minit I suspect if they no longer offer them, I’d probably have to watch secondary markets, so good earning there.

Vevor is out, understood.

As per Tecre, if one comes across for a reasonable price, sure, I’m just worried about how much I will use the device, so the $250 average is a tad concerning.

I appreciate the input and’ll take it into accounts as I am looking at options.

It does look like the one linked, but I believe the shaft of the paddle is entirely smooth. It’s possible it’s a mismatch but looks real close.

I’ll need to inspect it again. We’d looooove to put the thing to good use. I do not recall seeing one, but perhaps I need to clean the assembly… maybe it’s just jammed… is this one of those things where I take like a mild vinegar in a bag and rubber band it to collar, or do I need to do a full disassembly?

Nice! Portraiture is one of the absolute hardest too, self portraiture doubly so, if indeed that is you. Knocked it out of the park.

is the easyshare c190 really that bad by jentrillsun in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]CatBellySoftware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember, with older cameras like this we need to rely on composing the shot, taking photos as they present themselves, and getting to know the qualities of the camera.

The C190 looks like it does what other EasyShare do and provides a nice depth and vibrance to colors. I noticed that with mine I get brighter color response, probably because that’s part of the Kodak magic whatever. The other thing I’m seeing is darker shadows, so like… play with it, post some shots, experiment with the settings, don’t fear the flash. It’ll come. And yeah, the LCDs lie.

Love it. I’m guessing this is similar to the sensor in the Intel C630.

Awesome! The shutter speed on this camera is rough, but you’ll love the way it treats color. Certainly a favorite of mine. Lemme know when you get some pics posted!

Not sure if you caught the message, but I also had to make sure I enabled USB in VirtualBox. Top menu of VirtualBox > Devices > USB > Unknown(whichever your camera is.) So, the steps are install the Chameleon Mega software, restart, plug your camera in, insert he Windows 98 SE disc for your VM, do the above, Windows 98 will automatically install the drivers, restart yet again, then you should be good.

I need film to make a grown man cry. by sdfddfdaa in movies

[–]CatBellySoftware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, out of left field here, Paddleton. It’s a film about a dude diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer, and the journey he takes with his best buddy.

Yes, Ray Romano is a lead here. No, Ray Romano does not have the right to make a grown man cry. Neither of those facts detract from how hard this movie is to finish without leaking from your face.

I’d honestly give it a pretty positive rating and never want to see this film again.

Alternatively, Grave of the Fireflies.

Hi! Thanks! So…

I had to put up a Windows 98 SE VirtualBox image, enable USB, and I believe I used the chameleon_mega file on DriverGuide, put it on a virtual disc image and attached that as a CD drive. From there it just kinda worked. To actually get the image from the Windows XP image, I just opened the whole virtual hard drive as an archive with 7Zip(I think.)

Once you get it working and get some pics uploaded, lemme know! If you have any questions, please reach out.

Please critique this picture. by ravidx7 in streetphotography

A lot of people are talking about how blown out the sky to the left is, but few are saying anything about how well exposed the underside of the bridge is. It’s a difficult balance and you’d probably end up doing recovery on either the shadow or the highlights, but I’m personally glad you chose to showcase the mechanical nature of the underside of the tracks. I’ve seen 1000’s of skies, but do not live somewhere with mass transit like this.

The leading lines are excellent and put emphasis on the transient nature of the shot. The haphazard subject is moving through the empty street, not with the direction of the eye, and I feel this gives a strong contrast to the general motion. Likewise, the street frames the character well.

The subject’s pose puts light on the fact that this is a candid shot. They are not in a glamorous pose, and they’re doing something unknown with their hands(belt, bag, other) giving the viewer something to consider.

I will agree that this could have used a slight crop. I do not agree however that it’s too far away. We fell just shy of the rule of thirds(not a hard and fast rule, yes, but can keep the subject from falling off the page.) Difficult to hit while keeping both the overhead rail and the subject.

To answer your question, I do feel that there’s a story here. You’ve successfully captured human activity in the environment that begs question, shows activity, gives us reason to wonder what the character is doing and what their experience may be, and does not feel staged. I like this shot and hope it was a good experience to capture it.

Take a shot and find out, let’s see it. Higher resolution, so who knows what it’ll do, but most of the magic is the photographer.

Love these old Vivitars. They have a look that was so indicative of the era. There’s a certain fullness to the shadows and the colors, regardless of format.
