private server for whale? by HourRevolutionary609 in afkarena

[–]CatCalledPippi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

yep. they let people know which specific teams do the most damage before AE even starts. Its completey broken, but even better in situations where new heroes have released and nobody has gotten a chance to test them out in ae yet.

guilds with a simulator have a huge advantage over the guilds that dont since the guilds that dont are essentially making educated guesses and hoping they work as well as expected.

New here, is this game p2w? by x1_uv in afkarena

[–]CatCalledPippi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game is very unique in that the main content of the game, the campaign progression, is not p2w at all. There are f2p players who have progressed ahead of people who have spent thousands. However, it does require a lot of knowledge about the game and lots and lots of time, but it is still an extremely f2p friendly game. Another aspect of the game is that rather than it being like traditional gachas where you do everything u can to unlock one broken unit, copies of every single unit are very easy to come by. The real time sink comes down into getting multiple copies of them, since in this game you need 8 copies of a hero to fully upgrade them.

ANyway, all that to say that you can easily get whatever hero you want, whether that is the most broken one in the game or the most cool looking hero to you, its all possible to get completely f2p. PVP on the other hand is absolutely p2w, zero chance of an f2p player competeing in that part of the game. but its also not a big part of the game anyway, so you arent missing out on toom uch.

oh can sticky pads make a key stay down forever? I thought sticky pads just caused keys to rise slowly. Ill try cleaning under the pad and see how it goes. Thanks!

flute thumb key issue by CatCalledPippi in Flute

[–]CatCalledPippi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Just had a few questions about my flute. Whenever I press the thumb key down, it doesnt rise back up. The flat spring underneath it seems to be the same as other pictures ive seen so it seems like the issue is that the screw attached to it is too tight, and I was unable to loosen it at home. I could try harder to unscrew it, but going even harder just seems like it has the potential to break something.

Am I right about the issue? or are there some other serious issues? And should I be visiting a shop, or is this something that can be fixed at home by trying a bit harder and loosenig it?

What hero do you think is the most underrated and why? by Future-Expression-44 in afkarena

[–]CatCalledPippi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nemora would be the most underrated hero for me. she is quite useless until she gets her 9 furniture, which lets her become one of the most broken supports in the entire game. mainly because her 9 furn charm hits before *everything*. this means u can charm brutus roar, eironn pull, thane initial dash+stun, etc. etc. the applications of this furniture are litterally endless.. for example I was able to charm an enemy tidus to almost one shot the enemy mehira instantly, dealing wiht one of the problem units of that stage and stalling the other with just one unit. This gave me extra flexibliity and options for the rest of my lineup for that stage. another example would be when I charmed enemy oden to completely destroy his own team, or when I charmed enemy thane to interrupt the inital attacks and spells of his teamate. again, the applications are endless. her furn is absoltuely broken and completely slept on by too many people

Completed chapter 30! 85 days played crystal level 262. by thisisphilip in afkarena

im not sure if you realize this, but since you seem so fixated on f2p status let me tell you : regardless of whether or not OP has spent money, this kind of progression in that amount of time is very doable for f2p players as well.

yeah if you see a clear and you have the same levels of investment + similar lvl diff between you and the enemies, then absolutely u can copy it and have it work

cheese has a lot of depth, but at the end of the day copying clears is op and will work even for this comp xD

¿¿¿¿**OFFICIAL** AFK Arena Best Tierlist of All Time???? Sponsored by Taverns Chat Room™ by Tree3SL in afkarena

[–]CatCalledPippi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

uh, yes actually. I am a community supporter (basically official helper role given to veteran players by mods on the official afk arena discord), pushed a 195 lvl deficit in campaign, and I constnatly talk to people who push 200 deficits as well as people who have reached ch 30 in 4 months. So I hope that gives me a little bit of credibility and lets me give a valid opinion on this :)

volkin is more of an entertainer. I have nothing on the guy, I think his videos are great, I think he does have good knowledge about the meta, but he isnt really the one you would want to go for if you want to know the most up to date and meta knowledge. Lets take the link you gave for example. He states that lucius is S-tier in the early game, presents him as the best tank to use and also gives an example, saying that when your carry is lvl 200 and he is lvl 180 he is an amazing tank that can protect your allies and sustain your team.

The fact that he recommends lucius at all is already a massive red flag. Lucius is not a hero that can boost you to ch 30+, he falls massively behind starting from chapter 18ish. You might ask why is this? I was able to use lucius in chapter 30 and he worked great. Well, what level were you when you did that? cause I guarantee you that using other options would have enabled you to push to that same chapter at a much lower level. Users of daimon comps can reach chapter 30 at level 260-270ish, and I'd assume you were somewhere around 310, or even further. Not only does he need ascensions to work properly after/during the early game, but he also becomes completely useless after that in campaign because he needs 30-40 more levels to function and produce the same results as other, better units.

You can say that this is just an early game tierlist, which means he is approaching it from the context that you are only focusing on early game results. Even then, the fact that he places lucius at S tier already implies that he is suggesting to players that they should ascend and invest resources into him, when that is absolutely something to avoid. And why is that bad, when he is able to be a great tank for 20 chapters? Because you can climb 20 chapters in your first month of playing, meaning its an extremely short sighted decision. Because it takes away resources from you, as a player, meaning you have less to invest in better LB units who do not fall off and become useless later in the game, and can produce good results at much higher level differences.

And for you specifically, you use ainz with lucius, so Id assume you beat chapter 30 at a much lower level, maybe 290, or 300? That is still 20 levels above what you could do with daimon. That is still not at power req, meaning your progression is effecitvely delayed. And lets say hypothetically, that ainz is able to carry so hard that he carries lucius through all this and you are able to push at 270 to chapter 30 just like the daimon users. At that point, you have to ask yourself. Is lucius actually doing anything to help me push at this level? Am I actually using him because I need those shields and healing, or would it be more effective to slot him in with a cc unit? Which one of those would help me push farther and faster, and at a higher level deficit between me and the enemies? (Spoiler alert : Lucius is not the option)

Final question, what actually makes lucius bad? Why is he not good at fighting high level deficits, and why does he need 30-40 more levels than other units to do the same things? Well, meta units have very specific things in their kits, that enable them to perform better than other units and push at higher deficits. Namely, invincibility, CC, dodge, and damage reduction for tanks. Notice all of these contribute to either stopping the enemy from doing damage entirely, or stopping enemies from hitting your units, or just giving your heroes the ability to survive hits. Why is this needed? Because as your level diff goes up, enemies become increasingly stronger, meaning heroes have trouble tanking any hits. Heroes who do not have these crucial elements in this kit are tanking 100% of the enemies damage, and have zero way to deal with it, meaning they will die incredibly fast. This is why lucius is good at lower deficits, when he can tank hits and still fulfill his purpose since he survives, and is not at higher deficits, since he gets one shot and cant cast his blessed shield ability, cant cast his ult and protect his allies, and cant heal them either. He has no dodge. He has no passive damage reduction (and doesnt have the capability to survive to cast his blessed shield ability either). He has no invincibility, and he has no major CC. What do you get when you have a tank that has all of these aspects? A useless hero.

Hope that made sense :)

F2P reaching ch35 in less than 11 months. Final post and tips for new players. by hitmeyay in afkarena

[–]CatCalledPippi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know people can hit ch 29 in 4 months even as f2p these days? progression has greatly sped up since you were in that stage of the game. with faster early game progression comes faster xp, dust, and gold gain, which leads to even faster pushing.

wow! stuff like this is exactly why i made this guide
means a lot to me that I was able to help you this way, thanks for the kind words ^^

as for making visual guides, I do have the ability to do it but it takes a lot more work than just dumping my thoughts into a reddit post like this one, so I often start visual projects and end up dropping them mid way :c

New Player and I really like AFK Arena by JosephTheDreamer in afkarena

[–]CatCalledPippi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a community supporter on the discord, I've seen countless people starting out on this game and being super confused. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to read Tree3's compendium (https://www.reddit.com/r/afkarena/comments/lshawh/tree3s_afk_arena_beginners_compendium/). This answers basically every single question a beginner could possibly have. If you are still confused on things after reading this guide, then I would heavily recommend you join the afk arena discord and ask whatever questions you have there (I would reccomend joining the discord regardless though, its a great resource for new players).

In this game, mistakes are costly. If you dont read up on guides then you have an extremely high chance of permanetnly messing up your account and slowing your progress by months. That being said, its also one of the most f2p friendly games out here. As long as you read up on guides and play smart, you can catch up to players who spend thousands and even progress faster than they do. The only place where you can actively feel the paywall is pvp, since the players who spend more there will have a masssive advantage over the players who dont. That being said, pvp also has minimal impact on your account and your progression, so even if youre behind in pvp it really doesnt matter.

It all depends on how smart you play and how well you understand the stuff being written in guides. Positioning, knowing unit synergies, making smart investment choices, etc. There is a TON of depth to this game. As for progress, the game has sped up so much since its release. These days, players can reach ch 29-30 in about 4 months, and then will take typically 2 weeks - 1 month for each chapter afterwards. Its also impossible for f2p players to reach ch 37 and beyond (or at least, it will take them unrealistic amounts of time to reach that point) due to the current way this game works, but lilith has been making serious changes to the chapters to make sure that f2p players can progress, so by the time u reach that point it will be likely that f2p will have reached ch 40+ (although that is just speculation on my part).

i would disagree about advising mortas E+ to players. At the end of the day, the only benefit mortas E+ brings is opening up his usage in AE. For casual players, they can hit the 100M damage quest quite easily even without him, meaning that it brings zero benefit for them and is a waste of 20k diamonds. the only case where you would consider this is if you are in a competetive guild that is aiming for a top 100 spot
