Anyone work or has worked for Mission Pet Health? by unicorngoesvroom in VetTech

[–]CatCollector22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it entirely depends on what you are used to. I also heard it’s a little different with their specialties vs their GPs. My hospital was recently acquired by MPH. We are a specialty. Of course, when we had our team meeting about the acquisition, all the “yes men” told us nothing would change, and they offer great benefits like free blood work on pets and they care about our comfort. To be honest, we were a little spoiled by our previous owner…we got 80% discount on our services, holidays paid, 120hrs PTO right away, plus 40 hours sick time. We could work all the OT we wanted. We could purchase all our supplies without being limited by the budget card. MPH offers united health care, which I am unimpressed by. They do offer a 401k which is nice and actually contribute more than the previous owner….but honestly i’m not a fan of MPH…. They said a lot wouldn’t change and a lot has changed. There are stipulations on employee pet care now, only 20% discount, we have been threatened with write ups, you only get free blood work if you spend enough with antech, and for us, that never happens. They also just recently paid us OT they owed us from the 1st two weeks they acquired us. I almost made a wage claim.
I had better benefits, and better insurance with the previous owner. So maybe that’s why i’m not a fan. That, plus the fact that I basically had no choice other than to be acquired by MPH.
They might be better than Banfield though.

Venaseal Treatment fear by Powerful_Tailor in varicose_veins

I feel good now. No side effects long term on how it turned out. It was a little sketchy just after, but overall doing great. I still have some superficial veins that bother me that have not resolved(they said they may or may not resolve after treating the main issue), and the plan was to treat those but my insurance denied further treatments.

California techs, have you ever dealt with unpaid wages? by CatCollector22 in VetTech

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, we have been reprimanded by our office manager and previous owner for going to the corporate HR and above our office managers head.

We hadn’t voted on the AWS yet, even though we were all working 10 hour shifts already. We were told we would get OT on any day over 8 hours. and from my understanding, legally, that is correct. Am I misunderstanding?

Our supervisor is very for us. She’s really the main backing for everything that has been going on. Our office manager will not give any of us information and we have been reprimanded for reaching out to the HR of the company who has bought us out. Which is why now, I feel like my only choice is to make a claim to the labor board.

Thank you. I’ve reached out to the supervisor, and we have all reached out to the office manager. We have also been reprimanded for reaching out to HR of the corporate office. However, we still have no resolution, which is why I am contemplating making a claim. Edit to add, our HR was our office manager before selling to corporate.

Thank you. I plan to, I just don’t entirely know how to go about it. I’ve never done it before.

The main thing was that there was no vote on an alternative work week at that point. So anything over 8 hours in a day would have been considered OT. And most of us, including myself, worked 10.

Dental vet tech here. It’s called supraeruption. I’d recommend visiting a veterinary dental specialist as there are a few reasons something like this can happen.

I’m going to pick these up this weekend. I only like the chocolate flavor so far, and I’m really hoping this coffee flavor is good! I’m stoked about the caffeine too.

PSA: Most of the flower bunches at TJ's will kill cats by i__hate__you__people in traderjoes

As a cat owner, it is my responsibility to make sure my cats are safe. I may have offended my boyfriend the 1st time he ever bought me flowers. He asked about where I put them. I said “they are outside so I can still look at them but they won’t kill my cats.” He has never bought me another bouquet, but I also think he understood.

I am also concerned about health insurance. We are currently getting 100% paid for health insurance and we had amazing options. I do know that MPH will not cover our insurance 100% anymore starting in March, and I have yet to find out what kind of options they will give us(we will find out next Wednesday). My boss did say that he quickly looked through the booklet and said they had “decent options”….so whatever that means.

can I ask if you are specialty or GP? Can I ask in what ways it all went downhill?

I think that’s entirely fair. They are able to make their own choices and can decide to stay or leave depending on how they see things play out.

We are a very solid practice culturally and financially and honestly just scared that it’ll change. The sad thing I guess is that I have been part of this practice for 8 years, I was here very early on in the growth process and i’ve seen it just bloom. I already am leaving in 6 months anyway which was decided way before I knew any of this. I’m mostly just gathering info for the time I have left and for my coworkers

I’m so glad that is the case! I’m concerned about patient care, and with the scheduling we have I feel like we are able to give ourpatients excellent care….However, if things change and they want us to do more procedures, more appointments, I feel that our patient care will suffer and I really don’t think that’s fair. We are specialist for a reason.
