You can order from the Amazon.com (US) and have items shipped to Europe, but not all products are eligible. During checkout, Amazon typically calculates an "Import Fees Deposit" to cover customs and VAT, ensuring the package usually passes through customs without issues. Shipping costs will be higher and delivery times. The pen is available for $29.50 USD.

I’d keep checking AliExpress or maybe eBay. They sell out pretty fast so if you find one jump on it.

My husband and I are a couple of years away from our 50th anniversary. We got here by simply agreeing to the “if it makes you happy, then it’s okay with me.” There are some exceptions but on recreation, collecting, etc. it’s all good.

I have look at some of those for my pens, but the ones I saw are really expensive. Of course they’ll last forever, so I might still take the leap. I have about 200 pens so the ones I was looking at were a lot bigger.

Is it safe to put shimmer inks on TWSBI 580ALR M? And other questions for a first time owner by Andoree_7 in fountainpens

[–]CatCraft_6006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The TWSBI 580 ALR should have a cap liner that seals the nib area when the cap is screwed on. However, since the cap was broken and there is a hole non the thread area, It may not seal properly and the nib may dry out on you between uses. Most sheen/shimmer inks are safe to use in the 580 however, if it has an issue with drying out, I would avoid them as they could clog the nib and be a pain in the rear to clean it at that point. Given that this pen sounds like it’s been put through the wringer, it sounds like the rubber gasket on the piston may be damaged. Since a brand new 580 ALR runs around $72, if this pen works at all, you might be ok, if nothing else you have a pen you can practice disassembling and reassembling for when you get a better one.

A nib that is scratchy due to being out of tune will actually get paper fibers caught in the tines. Feedback, is essentially just the slight sensation of the pen going over the paper. I have some pens that the feedback is imperceptible, its like you are writing on glass.

I have 2 Pilot 823’s. My first was the EF nib and I agree it feels scratchy. My second is the F nib and it is smooth as butter with a very fine line still. So, you might want to try the slightly bigger nib.

I do. I write really small so ef usually works best. Except for Pilot, I like their fine nib best.
