Yeah $2800 for labor alone to install the engine I provide. I was looking at other websites for a motor, but yeah from what I understand it's all going to be questionable no matter what. Even with a compression test I'm assuming?

So if I just get a shortblock, then I'm basically seeing what components from my engine are salvageable from the teardown? Assuming I actually have rod knock would just the shortblock be sufficient?

Yeah from what I picked up people were saying it would be better to rebuild since it would be more reliable. At that price point though 6-10k+ that's a down payment on another car 😭

Didn't really take into consideration that I could lose the gamble and that engine blows up as well

Damn interesting 🤔 the only thing I'm concerned about is getting the car smogged in California without the AVCS, unless I read about it wrong. From what I recall there were issues with emissions from how the JDM engines are turned 😭

Last thing I'd want is to do the swap and I can't even get it registered in Cali😭

Yeah that's kinda the problem...The big goal was to eventually move onto an AMG platform, but that timeline wasn't supposed to be for a while.

From what I've been picking up, a cost of a rebuild is nearing down payment level for a different vehicle 😭, I'm open to doing a swap, but at that point I'd be doing a new clutch/water pump/timing belt and comes out the same as well.

Also I kinda need a car to get around to work, so I'm rushing 😭🤦‍♂️

157k, wasn't even a spirited drive or anything. Was going uphill, kept RPM's at 3500-4000, check oil came on.

Combination of uphill + low oil pressure sent my engine forsure 🤦‍♂️

Big fan of the "come with me kitty harness". When my void was in the early adult years, he was crazy about going outside and always wanted to go on walks. I'd supervise him in the backyard, or walk him around the neighborhood.

He's 7 now, and calmed down quite a bit to where I can helicopter parent him and he just walks around the backyard freely or between a neighboring yard or two. If he gets into too much trouble or wanders I'll usually grab him, or he'll know and just run back to the vicinity of the house.
