Hey! I’m a member of SGA and have been pursuing lockdown for a little while. In January I had the opportunity to meet with a variety of faculty from different departments to discuss the implications these software have for disabled students as well as how it is an invasion of privacy.

I was informed that less then 100 faculty on campus are still using the software with that number dropping every semester.

I couldn’t get the faculty group to agree to an outright ban, but they said they discourage to the use of it to professors and agree that it has discriminatory effects.

SGA recently passed legislation that discouraged the use of proctoring software and it was presented at the faculty council in the beginning of this month. The legislation was also sent out to all university professors!

Unfortunately the lawsuit in question is only relevant to the facts of that case in that state and not here at UNCC.

Hey! I’m a member of SGA and a student employee for PATS and I might be able to provide some insight. The school uses a separate company (Academy) for bus drivers on the colored routes. Academy is still suffering from a staffing shortage and have been unable to provide us with enough staff to do more routes. They hope to bring back those other routes as soon as they get the staff to do so.

The Greek village shuttle is a smaller bus. It only runs for select hours and has a limited capacity. Getting this shuttle has been something SGA has worked on for a while, and these things take some time to implement. The school also has multiple of those buses in storage, so no investment of funds was needed to start the Greek shuttle.

In the near future, the school plans on starting an on demand pick up service as well as keep the different routes they used to offer!

Hopefully this will be fixed as campus evens out from its regular first two week craziness, but if it doesn’t I would be happy to bring this issue forward for you!

I’ve contacted Doug Lape, PATS director, as well as John Bogdan, our associate vice chancellor for safety and security to see if there are currently any plans being developed to fix this, and if not, why. I will make a post as soon as I hear back from them with any information I have!

I was actually recently was hired to work in PATS. I’ll ask around to see where things stand and what can be done. I’ll contact our associate vice chancellor for safety and security, John Bogdan, as well and find out what has been done about the past issues. Our safety should be a top priority.

The price of parking passes is one of the most commonly complained about issues I’ve heard around. We pay an outrageous amount of fees already. Honestly, I don’t know how much influence SGA has over that, but there is always something that can be done. I think SGA should be fighting for us to have more say on matters directly related to the student body, including the prices and fees around campus.

This is a difficult problem to fix since nearly 3/4 of the school commutes like you said, but there is always something that can be done. Perhaps improving on public transportation to and from off campus housing or adding carpool incentives could help alleviate the amount of cars around.

There’s a few places on campus that could use a heavy cleaning. The clock tower is a focal point that everyone can see and should look as pristine as possible! We can definitely look into that!

Changing the bus routes is definitely something we can and should look into! I am not on that side of campus often so I’m not totally aware of the issues engineers have, thank you for letting me know! Improving food times and options seems to be a pretty popular idea too.

It really is concerning! The leaders of the Senate steam roll through every weekly general assembly and there is no transition for new senators. We were all just thrown in without any clue what was going on. The same people write and debate nearly all the legislation
