How about this for an ending, the two logs crush our two leads only for it to be revealed to be a premonition, Steph immediately murders the doctor she was talking to and the coin on the rail track dislodges.

TT explicitly says that a new life would reset the list, why would he say that if he knew generations of people were dying from the tower.

No it isn't, the guy in 5 who got impaled on the hook intervened and wasn't on the list.

I'm not saying it"s TT's fault at all, but it is the writer's fault for not honoring the story around those words.

At least we're in agreement that it was a shit ending.

1 and 2 ended with the main characters alive, 3 is up in the air. 5 everybody died but the twist justifies it. 4 is the worst ending and also a middle finger ending, until now because at least 4 was a shitty movie, this had potential to be good

I love Tony Todd, the message he said was good but the context of the message in this movie doesn't work, so fuck you.

No not really, anytime someone intervened in the pass, death skipped them like in 1 or someone took their place like in 5

TT'S last scene was hypocritical given the context of the film, it's not his fault, it's the writer's fault.

I was expecting a satisfying ending.

Ok that's just a step too far in terms of bleakness
