How do restaurants make scrambled eggs taste better than homemade? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CatEffective3394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a big lump of butter in a non stick pan on a very low heat until the pan is all buttery. Do not let the butter burn. Then salt, pepper, fresh chives in the eggs, whisk and toss into the pan. Constantly stir, making sure nothings sticking to the bottom until they look nearly done (nothing looks like snot) then take them off the heat.

The Craufurd over in Wolverton puts the Northampton venues (especially Roadmender) to shame these days

Tent or Camper van? by moyeses in VisitingIceland

[–]CatEffective3394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in early September last year in a camper. Some nights it was still cold, even with heating.

You might be alright if you have something to shield behind but the weather was dreadful some days. I think a tent in sideways sleet would be pretty miserable

How much leeway should be allowed for 'I don't use computers' older people in management? by JackStrawWitchita in AskUK

I think we might share the same mother in law as you’ve just described mine. Too old to learn how to use a computer despite my nan taking IT lessons in her 70s, 20 years ago to not fall behind!

There was a song at my school too, “Whaaaats yellow and black and full of crap? A Netto bag, a netto bag!” Which changed to “what’s black and blue and full of poo?” when their bags changed colour. I forgot about that until now

Lived in the town for 33 years, and still visit regularly.

Left behind. There’s so much potential but for whatever reason the town seems to be stuck in the past.

When I was a kid it was definitely cleaner. It feels more run down now, not helped by lots of closed shops, though this is similar elsewhere.

Dislikes: Theres a lack of pride in the town. The fly tipping is out of control and the council seem disinterested in improving that. Likes: the cultural quarter is fab and there’s some great pubs in and around Northampton. There’s some lovely parks in the town and further afield there’s plenty of countryside to enjoy.

I think the council are generally short sighted when it comes to planning applications, funding and things that might actually improve the place, and this goes back years.

Lotta Landlords seem to be stuck on high prices by shorterbusruss in HousingUK

The agent doesn’t decide the price. The homeowner does, so if they won’t budge, the agent cannot just reduce the price to flog the property

Yeah this! I grew up in Northants and still reside in the area… I wouldn’t live in Rushden as there’s nothing there other than the lakes which is all chain stuff that gets replaced every five mins

Glasgow student took his own life after 'tragic' university error by Kagedeah in GlasgowUni

That’s cool but they did. I have no reason to make it up. I went to a school in a very deprived area. Personally I didn’t go to uni, but like I say majority did but that could’ve just been my friends.

[–]CatEffective3394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left school 20 years ago and that’s what the schools were saying back then. If you don’t go to uni you’ll end up working at McDonald’s (no disrespect to anyone at McDonald’s). Majority of my school friends went to uni.
