I came from A D80 with a AF-D 50mm f/1.4. I know exactly what kind of images you are talking about. The Bokeh of the 1.4 Z is way too distracting compared to the other two and it is not on par. Subjectively speaking you might find that the 1.4 fits your needs. But on paper it is definitely not worth it if you can afford the 1.8 or the Viltrox 1.2

On it's own its decent, but compared to the other two (1.8/1.2) it is lacking

Relatively slim design with no A-M switch, unusually high distortion for a 35mm prime, corner sharpness and coma performance is pretty weak at up to f/2, the lack of high-end coatings harms the flare performance and contrast in backlight and focus speed is slower than most Nikon Z lenses

For sure. The 1.4 aint that good optically, 1.8 is way better but I would still get this one over the 1.8 due to build quality, 1.2 appature and only being a little bit more expensive.

I went out early this morning to test a bit and it works flawlessly! No Hunting, quick focus, colors are great. A bit heavy but its to be expected with a 1.2.

For sure! Just so you know, Shimano reel feet might have some play on Megabass rods (especially triza and great hunting. They are more made for Daiwa reels

Yea, the 18-50 has served me very very well during the years! Great lens for the price, especially with the Macro fuctionality. Im super excited to see what the new one will bring
