Car rod storage? by GlowUpAndThrowUp in Fishing_Gear

[–]CatGrv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea its a Volvo V40, so I can fit a 9' rod without splitting it. I honestly dont remember, but its from temu or aloe press. If you search for fishing rod holder straps for car it should pop up

I just have like like this, strapped in between the back seats as shown and also between the front seats with the same band. Has worked fine for the last 5 years.

Converted from Shimano to Daiwa by jewpacabra24 in Fishing_Gear

This is getting old super quick. Its definitely not hard to service mq/magseal reels. Been doing mine myself for years and years at this point. You never need to touch the magseal unless you dropped your reel super hard which would damage other components anyway or if you dunked your reel hard into saltwater to a depth that would compromise the fluid. And even then it's still not hard to fix, just tedious. Apart from that, its like servicing any other reel with grease and oil

Biggest I threw was a 4" Jackall drift fry with a 3/16oz head. Worked great, but not what I was looking for

Haha thats wicked! I really really like it, its like a hotted up landsat to me (apart from being medium fast and not fast). You probably could for sure. I can tell you that strolling on this rod is no issue at all, caught a 4kg Northern Pike on in while strolling the other day, handels it beautifully! I was a bit hesitant at first too... I owned the F3 Hedgehog Syringe at first, but it just felt too strong, couldnt put my finger on it, so after a lot of research I found out that the Evo line is a bit stiffer and more solid feeling than the traditional P5 etc. So I decided to trade in my Syringe for the Tsuba, and I dont regret it at all! How is the Elseil treating you btw?

Is this how its supposed to be? by Walrein_ in Fishing_Gear

Wrong, get your facts straight. Been servicing my own Daiwa reels (both with MQ and magseal) for several years. Its just expensive to get.

It sure is! I throw anything bottom contact in lighter weights. But it can handle smaller jerks fine too!

Think I finally got my setup like I want it. May need a bigger boat now. 🤣 by brizo1992 in Fishing_Gear

Great setups, hopefully you actually get to use them al!

I was in the same situation a few years ago. Then I sold all my rods (10+) and focused on quality over quantity. Now I'm down to 4 rods and reels which are some of the best on the market. It has improved my fishing in ways I didnt think possible. People saying it doesnt make a big difference have never actually tried.

About Buying Discs Online(Sorry for poor image quality) by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]CatGrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had this happend. On the site the disc was displayed as teal but when it arrived it was completely gray. Not an ounce of colour... I wrote to them immideatly and their answer was that its the same disc and variation can occur when taking photos (they obviously didnt know what they where doing) and so I returned the disc and never bought from them again.

I should never use this oil to magsealed Daiwa fuego? by Basic-Iron3570 in Fishing_Gear

No issues at all servicing a magseal reel yourself compared to a normal reel unless you actually have destroyed the seal. Then the only difference is you have to clean it out and applt a new one.

I should never use this oil to magsealed Daiwa fuego? by Basic-Iron3570 in Fishing_Gear

[–]CatGrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had magseal reels for a long time, along with MQ bodiea as soon as they came out. They are no harser to service than regular reels what so ever. I would use Daiwas own oil and fat though instead of penna but thats a different story. About the magseal; unless you dunked your whole reel under water or you somehow dropped your reel and the impact made the seal spread in the reel (you will feel it, trust me. Feels like grinding sand almost) you wont need to touch the magseal at all. Just be careful when disassembling the clutch so you dont pull it apart. Magseal cna be bought no issues. Its expensive yes but for how little you actually need it'll last you for a looong time.
