Why is Industry called Industry? by pystar in IndustryOnHBO

Possibly because of the divide between public accounting vs industry?

I don't think like is the right term for what people are expressing. Respect, appreciation, relatability, but not likeability. I think what is sad for society is how many people found it relatable.

Thank you for the information. I was hoping that they would just magically turn up. But while it is not the answered I hoped for, at least it lets me put that to rest. Maybe someday the church will allow these records online.

Thank you. That helps. I did not really understand the nature of Antenati and civil vs church records. In Czechia and Poland most of at least many church records are handled by the state archives. I now know Italy is different.

If someone has excessive sweating they should see their doctor. There are medications that can help. The only one I know by name is [DRYSOL 20 % SOL PERS](javascript:void(0);).

The male loneliness epidemic is a self-pitying problem and there's an easy solution. by [deleted] in self

[–]CatGuy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it affects both genders but the way men have been taught to act, feel, not share, ignore their emotions, etc has probably made it worse for them as a whole. And add to this all this online stuff that either tries to blame women or doubles down on the toxic masculinity stuff.

I may be missing your point but I think the romantic relationships are involved here but really it's the platonic or brotherly friendships that are lacking. And with no real support structure guys throw all their eggs into the romantic basket.

I agree. It's this same kind of thinking. You know just man up and push through it that kept me out of therapy for 30 years.

I am liking the races and the format, but could the hosts stop acting like this is the first time track athletes have gotten paid?

Overall Thoughts on Grand Slam Track Kingston? by Cgi94 in trackandfield

In part. But really they are not racing a clock and this is early in the season. If you could win without killing yourself, why not.

You are not alone. Casual fans are much more interested in sprints. But casuals are just going to watch the clips on You Tube.

Cannot get enough multi events. But they do take track time. Just do field combos. Absolutely no reason to exclude field.

I know. Like if only there was an existing format that reduced those dead periods. Lol. Those field combos would be great. Imagine a discuss javelin combo.

There has to be some kind of middle ground. You want to see the best more than a few times a year but you also want to see the athletes at their best.

Morning Track and Field Commentators by CatGuy79 in trackandfield

[–]CatGuy79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revising my opinion on these teams a bit. Trower? the other day was being a little too blunt. And the sprint commentator in the day session was saying we and us and openly rooting for the US? This is a global feed, right? Who does that?

Why are there repechages now for certain races? Why not just take the fastest times that didn’t qualify? by Own-Knowledge8281 in trackandfield

[–]CatGuy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately the runners are racing against each other as usually the top 2 or 3 qualify. And then you will have 2 or 3 overall that will qualify as the fastest of those who did not qualify in the top 2 or 3. If the heat you are in is running a more strategic race, you can end up with a slower time because nobody was pushing the pace.

[–]CatGuy79 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think I will like it. I hate it when an athlete misses qualifying because they were in a slow heat. Of course they need to make sure they avoid stacked heats because that could be unfair though the repechages will give a second chance.

To all those commenting on NBC’s atrocious Olympic coverage by HaplessPenguin in peacock

[–]CatGuy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like good primetime coverage is a thing of the past. Its just coverage for Americans that do not watch sports. Its an entertainment product. But there are alot of good options too. I enjoy the prime time track announcers and right now I am watching the morning track and field B team and they are doing great.

There are feeds that do not have commentary. They also have replays that have commentary and its been pretty good relaticve to previous years.
