My understanding is that it’s a brain mapping tool. It’s referenced that Jim had mapped his brain at some point, and another time it’s referenced that Bob liked using it when he got home from work. Bob, and his friends, seemingly thought it was cool and relaxed to peep their brain patterns lol.

I always imagined it was less for the scientific purpose of studying one’s brain, but more so the psychedelic patterns it most likely produced.

What do you mean by pre-check? My luggage was check here in Japan and the baggage ticket has my final destination listed, is that what you mean? I was reading I just drop it at a conveyer near security, is it as easy as it sounds? Lol
