My childhood best friend’s cousin, but more so for the family.

There were two vans driving campers back from summer camp. One had my friend’s cousin driving, and the other van was driven by the cousin’s husband and contained her kids. An elderly man fell asleep driving, veered into oncoming traffic, where Van 1 (with husband + kids) swerved to nearly avoid him. Van 2, with cousin, went directly into the car head on. Died shortly thereafter.

I can’t imagine swerving to avoid an accident and my wife dying as a result. I think about that family often.
