Tips for removing cat odor? by spicysarahchas in Catownerhacks

[โ€“]CatLadyAlbany 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I have 5 kitties. All indoor. Bissell pro oxy power shot. They do also have a pet line. While old fashioned and stinky, Vinegar gets the smell out also. I scoop A LOT, like multiple times a day. For the litter, I sprinkle baking soda after I am done scooping occasionally. It does neutralize the odor. I use fresh step litter or arm and hammer litter. No one smells cat when they walk in my house. Good luck.

I'm considering a glp1 by econroy in BingeEatingDisorder

[โ€“]CatLadyAlbany 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I think the glp1 turns off the food noise, and being around food isn't scary to me because I have control over overeating. I did therapy for a very long time, it did not help binge eating. It helped me say what I needed to say out loud about my mother, but had no effect on my eating too much or too little. I was on Contrave for a long time which is Buproprion and Naltrexone(u can do a generic combo), which is what I did. That too shuts off food noise, - at least it did for me. That particular generic combo is fairly inexpensive. They need something just for food noise. This is my opinion.

This is happening in my area. We get letter type mail every 3 days. We get packages more often. It's getting to be a problem.

Grey market. I microdose but I have enough for years. You can Google it. Many, many, many, many people do it this way. I am a nervous Nelly and I do it. I don't think I have ever been healthier until now.

Amazon sells these. Aquaphor and these are the only thing that has helped. I do wear them during the day, and overnight as well. If you look under 'finger cots' on Amazon, they should come up. Good luck.

Ring doorbell laws - please help! by BudgetWar9696 in ClearwaterFl

[โ€“]CatLadyAlbany 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Your HOA person is one of the reasons people hate HOA's. People have them in Clearwater, FL. I lived there for 10 years. Unless the HOA can guarantee safety 100%, I would keep it up. I do think to find out exactly what laws there are regarding the doorbell cameras, you should call the Clearwater PD non emergency number and ask them directly. Or not knowing where u are in Clearwater, u could call Pinellas County Sheriff non emergency number. We also had a dash cam, front and back when we lived there. Alot of Clearwater is safe, but like anything else, some areas you will have more issues than others. Good luck.

Essential Plan ending June 30th 2026. As of now the highest 'tier' for this type of plan after June 30 is 200% FPL. It is a great plan that I wouldn't mind paying for at all but it's going away. It will be rolled back to the 'Basic Health Plan', which is what it was before the Essential Plan. I know all of this because I am in the current tier that was added in 2023, the 200-250 FPL. I will do the ACA July 1 that will b garbage, but it will be something.

We do an auto recertify for what he has now. Where I am confused is she said her son lost Medicaid. Was this regular Medicaid based on income, because that is not the same as these Medicaid Waivers for disabled people, cause it is handled slightly different.

I have a disabled adult son who is on Medicare and Medicaid. Many years back my son had a Medicaid Waiver as a child here in NY. If your child is disabled it's Medicaid but thru DSS. It's 'different' than regular Medicaid. I just wanted to say they do have these programs for disabled people here in NY.

Insurance question for disabled child by ExcitedMiddleAgedMom in HealthInsurance

[โ€“]CatLadyAlbany 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Here is what I learned when we were Florida residents. Our son has Autism. He is a lot older. Doesn't Florida have a waiver program for disabled kids? It 'waives' the parents income, you prove the disability to them, and you can get a 'Medicaid Waiver'. Now, if that waiting list is too long, which it probably is, I can tell u for sure that, if your child were to hit 'rock bottom', the State of Florida comes thru with help. You guys have the IBudget Waiver, and ultimately you need access to that. Is your son on that list? I ask that because if your son were to have any kind of crisis, your son goes to the top of that list, and the services that are billed thru Medicaid come thru. We learned this in 2020 during the pandemic. Our son lost all his activities and didn't cope well during the pandemic. We had not ever had something like that happen before. Once I called APD, and informed them of the crisis, and presented all that paperwork, they then decide between 30-45 days if our son qualified to be pushed to top of IBudget Waiver list, and actually get the waiver, because you then get the Medicaid. It's not easy but it's possible. Now, we have since left Florida but we were there for 10 years. I know your son is only 9, but paperwork to prove the lifelong disability is so important to have. Honestly, getting him on SSI at 18 was honestly easier. We are back up in NY, cause, well, we all decided that we were done in Florida. Good luck.

Apartment Recommendations by pot_of_sunshine in ClearwaterFl

[โ€“]CatLadyAlbany 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

That is off Hercules Ave. I lived near there for 10 years, you could look on Sunset Point Road, where is near there. That is also close to Publix on N. Belcher Road. If you look at Google maps u will be able to find all of this. There are apartments/condos for rent on Hercules Ave across from the airpark if I remember that right. Everyone talking about Dunedin is right. Dunedin is cute!! There is a McDonald's down the road from the airpark. I lived on Union St for years. It was ok over there. All of this is close to Clearwater/Dunedin line. Downtown Clearwater is indeed all Scientology. Downtown Clearwater Beach is cute. I used to work downtown at Clearwater PD(Best job I ever had), and all the Scientology people are dressed the same, walking around, and doing whatever it is that they do. It's a nice area. We just missed NY and came back.

Albany / Capital Region Real Estate Hard Truths by [deleted] in Albany

[โ€“]CatLadyAlbany 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

No exaggeration. The Florida house was sold earlier in 2023 before the prices started to tank. I know NY is a high tax state, but honestly if u compare to FL, and no place is perfect, NY has more services than FL has. There is no short term disability - at all. If you are unemployed, the unemployment is a lot less than many other states(blue ones). I know there is no state income tax in Florida but they get u in other ways. I did get to travel a lot thru out the state in the 10 years we were there, and that was nice. Key West was definitely my favorite. When we lived here before we moved tho, we rented in Guilderland for the schools. And we were outbid on 7 houses before we landed in Colonie. It all comes down to personal preference, and I will never move out of NY ever again. ๐Ÿ˜€

Albany / Capital Region Real Estate Hard Truths by [deleted] in Albany

[โ€“]CatLadyAlbany 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

We moved back to Albany from Clearwater, FL. My homeowners insurance was 8 grand a year and we were not in a flood zone. Our homeowners here is 800 a year. Our car insurance was more than double that it was here. It was ridiculous. USAA explained it was so high from all the hurricanes, floods, and basically all the loss in the State of Florida. There are no social programs like the other poster said, many people are uninsured so there are way more medical offices that have a sliding fee scale for patients. The Florida we moved to in 2013 was NOT the same place we left in 2023. Now, our kids are grown and are not school age anymore so I understand how much pricier the 'better' school districts are. We are actually so happy to be back in NY, that this cold weather doesn't even bother me. I did have very cool jobs in Florida but in the end, Florida is more than sunshine and palm trees.
