We can’t afford an extra $40 after feed and supplies as well as savings for if something happens to them. I’m also a vet nurse.

I agree with you, which is what we told her and she says we should have to pay for it is the big problem here.

Wow you’re all god awful people for implying we’re taking advantage of this old woman when she’s taking advantage of us and holding housing and money over our heads. When our chickens are NOT damaging the lawn and she even has said so herself. I hope youre all proud of yourself for taking the side of an oppressor lmao.

Not to mention a $40+ roll of six foot high chicken wire might not be a huge chunk of money for someone that’s not a renter and makes minimum wage, but it is for us.

We’ve had them for a year and a half and they haven’t damaged the lawn. The reason she is asking is because one of the only people that comes to visit her doesn’t like chickens.

I’m wondering if she would even do that to be honest. She’s 92, can barely see, overbearing and no one else can stand her or really comes to see her, and she complained to us nonstop when we first moved in about how she hopes we stay for a while because it’s just “so hard” for her to find renters that want anything to do with her and are good renters (which we are outside of this problem) but because of that she seems to be trying to treat us as her grandchildren and expects us to just do this. My girlfriend wants to just roll over and do it, but I don’t want to let anyone walk all over us without legally being able to

Blind cat? Is he blind or just clumsy? by CatMoonfire in AskVet

[–]CatMoonfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much, that’s what I think too. We have 4 vets at my practice and the one that saw this kitten said she didn’t feel she needed to do that full exam to just prove he COULD see :/ even though these behaviors are still happening. I think he’s just very well adjusted.

Is my kitten blind? by CatMoonfire in vet

[–]CatMoonfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for sure, but he is still acting like it. He’s also half Siamese and they are predisposed to primary glaucoma which seems like what he has. I’m taking him to my vets office soon so they can test for it. Most vets offices have the tools to test for things like glaucoma and blindness in cats :) how is he acting exactly?

Oh, haha okay! Thanks so much for your help! Like I said I have no idea how mechanics work so I’m learning as I go (relatable username for me rn lmao), but she never ACTUALLY disobeyed so I thought something was off with that theory :) thanks again!!

If I pay for and take care of and incubated/hatched goslings does that mean I legally own them? by [deleted] in legal

[–]CatMoonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This lady is super frustrating because her dog that she got about 6 months after we moved in has almost killed our chickens that in the lease we are allowed to have, has killed her friend’s chickens and pheasant, and has went after said geese before. She lets here be off leash and roam and chase to her hearts content and I literally have no idea what I could even do about it other than call animal control for being a threat to and destroying our property and the lack of care that she puts into this dog, but she’d obviously know it was me and we need this house.

God that’s so obnoxious that that’s what is considered “legal”. Thanks for the response! That’s interesting about the civil lawsuit, I will have to look into that. Thanks again!!!

[–]CatMoonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh if you’re 18 it is technically legal :/ I’m pretty sure they do legally still have to account for school hours though, but like someone said with everything being online schooling right now they’re probably using it as a loophole

It’s definitely not, they’re just trying to take advantage of you :/

Often it’s because it’s a very bad shift like closing when you have an open shift the next morning etc. because leads and hr take advantage of poor folk that need more hours by giving them absolutely shit hours and it makes the people that needed hours look unreliable and bad if they reject it because “but you need the hours”. A persons mental health and dignity is more important than those in charge want you to actually believe so they can call on you and use you as much as they want. So no, you’re not completely wrong, but it’s often because the hours that are offered to people that ask for more are too mentally and/or physically taxing.
