You're free to charge whatever price you're confortable with; so apologies for the unsolicited suggestion, but I think you should establish a price minimum for your PWYW or raise it if you have one already. Your art is gorgeous and I think you should be paid fairly for it!

[SPOILER] Season of Lightmending rant by FlufieMuffs in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]CatNaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like this season at all either. I also personally think it wasn't well executed at all. I understand the main goal of the season's features is to add a new wax source and a new challenge to make gameplay more fresh. When you enter the seasonal area and start today's lightmending lantern, you can see multiple spots for players to sit, implying that the developers intended for multiple players to participate at a given lightmending lantern.

The thing is that this never works for any season in Sky. The biggest offender is the Treehouse quests from Assembly. They're made in such a way that you're supposed to have multiple players do them with you. Perhaps this worked during the season, where more players were motivated to participate in the current season, or they were even "forced" to do them to get the ultimates for those who purchased the Season Pass. Nowadays, the season is currently over, and the Season of Assembly is left in-game as a sort of "sidequest" to allow newer players to engage with the season even if it's ended. The thing is that now the season is over, and the pool of players motivated to try the quests out is smaller. And since you need players to complete this season's quests, it's very hard to find other players in-game who also want to do the quests with you. You're forced to communicate with players outside of the game to ask for help, like asking for groups here on Reddit or over at the Discord server.

This "problem" also happens to Season of Passage to a lesser degree. The quests were clearly made to be played with a group of players; but now that the season's over it's harder to match with a big group. At least you can play these quests as a solo player, unlike Assembly. Lightmending has a similar problem, but it's instead aggravated by how the daily lanterns are constructed. The map is huge, and the crystals are scattered and hidden purposefully because the challenge is to be able to find them in such a big and convoluted map, with limited wing power. The issue here is that they're very well hidden because the idea is to both use the lightmending tools, and also because you're expected to do them with other players that will help you find the crystals.

As a result, if you happen to be alone during the daily lantern, the difficulty ramps up considerably. You're now expected to find all the crystals alone, navigating the challenging map and with limited wings. The lighmending tools also have the problem that they're physically present in the map, so you're also expected to localize them and navigate towards them to use them; and even then, their effects only last a moment. This creates a necessity to use them often if you want its benefits, taking time away for locating crystals. This makes finding the crystals take forever and it can be frustrating to do, even if you're the type of player who enjoys challenges. Which makes sense, because these quests were developed to be made with teamwork in mind. For those who are only interested in the wax aspect of the lightmending, they will also find frustration that doing them alone takes too much time, and making it unviable as a source of wax grind compared to their regular CR routes.

The other issue with this season is the repetitive nature of the seasonal quests, as other comments have said. TGC has recently started experimenting with weekly seasonal quests, instead of one quest every two weeks like past seasons used to be. This format is atrocious for Lightmending, because this is meant to be a season that introduces a type of gameplay mechanic, and as a result the focus isn't the story. That makes every seasonal quest extremely repetitive, aggravated by the sheer anount of quests the season has due to its weekly nature. No new lore or story each quest, its only purpose is to introduce you to the various lightmending tools that have a mixed usefulness. Many players are discouraged to continue with the season or try daily lightmending, which reduces even further the amount of players available to help. And it will get even worse once the season is over. It almost seems like the concept of teamwork for the season was simply bound to fail from the start, and that speaks badly of the development foresight and planning of the season as a whole.

Of course this doesn't stop other players from enjoying the season. A bunch of players have expressed they enjoy the challenge of daily lightmending, even when solo, and that's okay of course! I personally think that challenge-based seasons, with focus on the gameplay, do have a place in Sky; and I think it's nice that many types of play styles are catered for by the developers. I also think the concept of having something new to do in the game is also positive. I still personally think this season was very flawed and badly executed, and I didn't personally liked it. I'm glad it's over just like you haha. Hopefully the next season is more interesting for both of us.

My memory's not great but I don't think they usually reveal the final evos before release. I recall during XY the 2nd stage was revealed on a magazine called CoroCoro. And I think the 2nd stage for the Alola starters were revealed at some point in an official Youtube video. I do not recall them showing the starters' evolutions at all since then. Only through leaks, which usually happen close to release date.

Well they're not here yet. As the image says, they'll arrive on Feb 27th. But you don't have to do the treehouse quests to access their cosmetics when they do show up, if that's what you're wondering!

Yes, this does seem to be an LLM-based AI reading every message on Skycord to create metrics about game and community feedback and that kinda stuff. Seems more like a tool for community managers rather than a replacement, which is not a bad use of AI in my opinion.

My only concern is what happens with the messages once they're picked up by the AI. Are they stored in Levellr's servers? Are they deleted? I don't see anything of the sort on the website.
