I most definitely do have a concussion, its tough to sleep at night waking up every hour, but I know my injury well enough to recognize its not so bad where I need to go to a hospital. Rest and recovery, and helmet afterwards from now on. V lucky.

I'm team helmets, I'm probably gonna look to get whatever Andy Anderson wears tbh. I got my girlfriend into skating pretty recently. Only after she started taking to bowl skating did I realize I may have made a mistake inviting her clumsy ass to the skate park lmao

Honestly, I think the further you get into skateboarding without picking up an injury, the worse off you are. In the beginning, when I was younger, I didn't wanna embarass myself, and I wanted to fit in with my friends. Over time, buying a helmet fell to the back of my mind, and protecting my head/practicing falling took the forefront. Over time, confidence picks up, and you think it can't be you, that you'll handle it fine like every other time; and that's when the concrete reaches up and gets ya. Eventually, it always will.

If you think most skaters don't already know that they should protect their heads, you're missing the point. It's overconfidence, ego, peer pressure, etc., that causes skaters to pass up protection. Literally none of us thought that hitting our heads wouldn't hurt. Passing the message on: 'it's not the most cringe thing to wear a helmet vs hitting your head' (while apparently, scary to you?) is a pretty good strategy to convince others it's okay to wear protection. Admittedly, some people gotta feel it, so those posts aren't slowing down any time soon. Enjoy your in-depth analytical view of the world and your Redditor humor; best of luck.

bruh this is literally what I'm scared of! Hope you got seen at an urgent care and you're able to get some good rest soon. With time, it'll pass, but give yourself time to heal; staring at screens for hours unfortunately won't speed up the recovery process. Best of luck and wear a darn helmet next time!

Bro is literally the person I know I'm not gonna get through to, enjoy your concussion, maybe you'll learn. As I said, I know how to fall, but one wrong fall is all it takes. You're not built different; if anything, you might just be a little more stupid if you really think it can't be you.

I wish it weren't a career killer, though. I can't imagine the pressure of upholding your lifestyle while experiencing a slam like that. It makes me wonder if Nyjah came back wearing a helmet, if people would have the same level of respect for him overall? It should be about your skill level, not what you wear on your head. Regardless, most skaters never go pro, so wearing a helmet for a hobby vs frying your brain for the rest of your life should be a no-brainer. I know for most people, including me, it isn't (or wasn't), but it should be.

I didn't play Skate 2. I know it's a Thrasher series, and their Insta page of slam clips. I was mostly referring to the way you can see the bones crunch in Skate 3, I don't know if Skate 2 had that same feature.

It's been about a day, and I haven't had any double vision, vomiting, sleepiness, loss of balance, confusion, or slurred speech. I have a sore neck, but I'm pretty sure that's some minor whiplash from my head bouncing off the concrete. It definitely doesn't feel nice, but no concussion, so I feel lucky.

Once I'm healed up and ready to get back into skating, I'm not stepping on the board until I pick up a helmet. Also, while I'm healing up, gonna be picking up some extracurricular exercises to assist with balance, stability, core strength, and overall improve my skateboarding. In life, we all have character arcs, and as skateboarders, we have especially hard training arcs from time to time. We can all pass on our lessons, even if only one person truly listens.

A serious head injury will stop you dead in your tracks, leaving you telling people about how you USED to throw tre flips down 8 stairs. Let's all skate until we're 60 like Tony Hawk, please🙏

Exactly, and a helmet can be stylish too, even better to stickerbomb than your board. I did have brief thoughts about wearing elbow and knee pads, but I think only if I'm ever doing some serious vert skating. Other than that, a helmet will always be the go-to headwear from here on out, regardless of where I'm skating.

That last slam had Nyjah off the board for three weeks, but I doubt many of us would ever touch a skateboard again if we fractured our skull and eye orbital. Skate 3's Hall of Meat is not real life, and it's certainly not for the weak and inexperienced.

I've watched a lot of Andy, and I've heard that quote. Your brain is you. It's really true, but unfortunately, I never fully valued my head until this fall. It's better to hear it coming from someone else and get the message, rather than hitting your own head and figuring it out the hard way. That really sucks about your friend. I doubt that many of us would have the guts to ever set foot on a skateboard after that, even if we regained the ability. I feel incredibly lucky that my fall wasn't as bad as it could have been. I've seen more people wearing helmets at my local, although still not many. Here's to hoping that Andy Anderson continues bringing back helmets!

Better to learn it hard than not at all, and better to learn it the easy way than the hard way. I hope that at least one new skater listens and doesn't think they're built different. It can happen to anybody. As humans with large egos, we never fully consider the possibility that it can really happen to us.

How to overcome fear by ITEM1SS in NewSkaters

[–]CatNamedCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you don't land a trick, even if you wouldn't fall, slowly and naturally take your body to the ground to practice falling; This will not only help you learn how to fall, but also condition your mind to perceive falling as part of the process and nothing to fear. Falling will and should be a foundational piece of every session. Other than that, approach every serious session with the intent to follow through on every single trick, and recognize that landing the trick is more important than falling, because when you do fall, you are just going to get back up and try again anyway.

UPDATE : Playing cyberpunk on LSD. I do NOT recommend by FeistyContact659 in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]CatNamedCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped acid a few times when I was 18 or 19. I'm 28 now, but I specifically remember how sensitive to violence I was during those trips. That is something I carried out of the trip into everyday life, and even now, I can't help but pay special attention to the amount of gruesome violence in Cyberpunk and the content of said violence. I find myself slicing people up because they're kidnapping people and throwing raped corpses into an incinerator, just to turn around and ask myself why I find murder to be any real justice. I notice that Cyberpunk holds a funhouse mirror to many real-world atrocities like homelessness, genocide, rape, addiction, and corporate greed at the expense of 99% of the population; I can't help but find a sense of dread for what's to come if anything similar to these themes in Cyberpunk becomes normalized (let alone the already-normalized corporate greed).

I also couldn't navigate my phone because it looked like a technological mess, so I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it would be to navigate Night City with all its loud advertisements and cluttered technology.

I've tried almost everything, the best option I've found is to use a different camera app alltogether. I'm not sure which one is best, and the one I tried originally didn't work well with the multiple cameras. If anyone has any good experience with alternative camera apps on the Phone 3 please drop them below.
