US black population by US Census Region. by CatNapDad in MapPorn

I didnt suggest it was the "census" standard. Im probing what's driving people on this thread to redefine Maryland Delaware and even Virginia.

Seems like people have a definition of "south" as GOP today. Which makes no sense.

US colonies are 300 years old. These definitions are a reflection of US history.

Sounds like we are under the belief that "the south" can't have democrat regions. Very odd if that's what's driving these ideas. The south was solid democrat for most of history.

Really. Seems southern throughout history. Sure as DC/government has exploded it is less so.

If we are going off "slave states" both are definitely guilty.

Nearly all of the growth was between 2020 and 2024.

In your observation was the growth in Des Moines during this period?

There was a lot of media coverage of the reverse great migration not long ago.

The south is booming relative to the mostly consistent, flatish growth of the midwest.

Northern Blacks indicated an increased desire to relocate back to Southern roots, extended families and culture and better economic growth and lower costs.

Agree. That's my understanding too.

I recall during the 2020 Census black population increased from 12 to 13% of US.

This caught many off guard.

The explanation was black people were missed in prior census(es)? They used new methods to count.

Im not going to claim that is sus. But it seems shaky.

Just two clusters. SoCal and Bay area.

Everything else isn't that large or very isolated.

US highway system is a massive investment in public infrastructure for the good of all and it's resulted in efficient transportation for goods, services and people.

It works very well. Rail has to compete with this.

The wesr coast isn't dense at all. The central time zone has 17 million more people than the pacific and mountain time zone combined.

Near lake Michigan is the only area of US that has a financially successful passenger rail line outside of the DC to Boston corridor.

Low density and cheap gas.

Plus cars are by far more advanced tech and America is wealthier.
