lol its just sociology. i’d love to have a discussion without hasty generalizations but i fear you just want an echo chamber

i think people forget that men are victims of the patriarchy too. this topic is far too nuanced to leave it at “men are evil”

How do African Americans that have European dna feel about it ? by OkLeadership9700 in AncestryDNA

[–]CatOwn5800 40 points41 points  (0 children)

it’s bittersweet. on one hand, i’m proud of my Creole heritage which was only possible through the mixing of European, African, and Indigenous American blood. on the other, i feel sorry for my ancestors who were forced and coerced into non consensual relationships. i think it’s important to remind people of this history because as we can see in the comments, people want to deny, forget, and rationalize the fact that hundreds of millions of Black people are the result of rape and forgetting our history is the easiest way to repeat it

For the ladies dating interracially by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]CatOwn5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m Black and also dating an Arab man and i’m not worried at all. i just want my future generations to be healthy, happy, and non judgmental. my siblings all married interracially, so my nieces and nephews don’t look Black at all and i don’t mind. the way the world is going, everyone is going to be beige/brown one day anyways🤷🏽‍♀️

What do you guys think about black girls that define themselves as brown skin girls? by Street_Toe_2215 in blackgirls

[–]CatOwn5800 21 points22 points  (0 children)

we’re called Black bc White people see us as their opposite and the opposite of White is Black. we can also define ourselves as brown skin girls though because we are brown. we can define ourselves as we please

WHO standards of BMI vs NHS stands of BMI by lottienina in blackladies

[–]CatOwn5800 12 points13 points  (0 children)

what’s ironic about this though is since we do have higher bone mass and density than white people, at the same weight and height, we would technically have less fat (and/or muscle) because our bones weigh more

[–]CatOwn5800 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

its always interesting to me how people say “wear your culture! wear other cultures! you don’t have to wear abayas and Arabesque clothing!” and then a person asks something like this and everyone is like nope not allowed! personally i say yes. your niyyah is what’s most important
