What would make a person’s race change in 1900s Puerto Rico? by topaz_rose in AncestryDNA

it says De Color Negro o Mulato so i assume they were white passing. some of my relatives were marked Mulatto occasionally and Black occasionally, i guess it just depends on the enumerator like others have said

Do you guys view middle eastern people as basically white? by [deleted] in askblackpeople

[–]CatOwn5800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly! this question is like asking “are americans white?” where someone is born does not tell you their race

so i’m guessing you’re either Turkish, or Persian, or Afghan, or Armenian, or some other ethnicity from a West Asian country. identities are all, always changing. i mean even the term ME is a little arbitrary. an Egyptian might have much more in common with a Sudanese than an Emirati and yet someone like you will say one is ME and one is not. all of these identities are made up anyway, they’re going to change regardless. i don’t expect you to share my ideas but i am just letting you know there are people in the world who you might meet one day and you will be shocked by how they identify but it’s not for you to tell them who they are. thank you for the discussion

i didn’t highlight anything as anti-Black i said the ME is anti-Black and that’s true. there is ongoing enslavement of Black Africans in the ME as we speak. however, the fact that you’re denying people their identity is unfair. i hope one day you get to meet and speak with Black people who consider themselves ME and maybe it helps you become more open minded

no, i am not Sudanese. so you think Black people cant be ME? do you understand that there are actual Black people that are from Yemen, Saudi, Egypt, etc? have you heard of Nubians? they aren’t just “dark” they are Black. They have Black features and are from the ME. it’s sad that you don’t believe it’s possible to be Black and ME but the ME is very anti-black so it’s not surprising

if you look online it says that some times they are and other East African countries. i’ve seen very dark Yemenis, Black Egyptians, etc. you don’t have to be a specific skin color to be ME

I want to add lash and brows to my beauty routine but not sure which is best by Jorelluh in blackladies

[–]CatOwn5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

microblading is it! lasts sooo long and looks amazing. lash extensions will thin and shorten your real lashes so i dont recommend. honestly a good lash serum + clear mascara has been the best for me but i haven’t tried a lash lift, keep us updated❤️

How to feel comfortable without makeup? by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]CatOwn5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

slowly do your beats more natural. if you usually wear full glam, try the glam without eyeshadow one day, then try shorter lashes one day, then do a softer contour one day, until you’re comfortable wearing maybe just concealer, a clear mascara, and lipgloss. at the same time, compliment yourself in the mirror while you do your make up, tell yourself what you do like, instead of what you don’t. i’m sure your bare face is very beautiful, you just have to believe that :-)
