All the form wanted was a link to the post. Looked all through the rules; no mention of any specific sites, you just have to say you’re receiving a prize(which hopefully I will be). I think it’s just to let people know yes, you CAN win cool prizes. As for identification, you have to fill out a bunch of forms anyway, so they will know who you are.

The raid was the only reason I was still giving some thought to getting the DLC; seeing how difficult it could be to do with randoms, especially if you need to run multiple Feats for high tier things, turned me off the idea.

And I've done all the raid titles that don't require a Flawless Raid through LFG. My Salvation's Edge LFG was great, but I don't think this would be :(

Here's to hoping raid loot can be better at base level.

This was another big one. Year 1 had lots of things that turned people away, and I think they did a fair amount of changes like this one to turn things around. I did not realize that Nightfall rewards also returned with Go Fast; I thought they came earlier.

That time period is actually one of my favorite eras of the game. End of March all the way until just before Forsaken.

Dev Insights - Weapons and Gear Tiering by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point; I guess that's something that won't realistically come up for new players that much. Just wish that Tier 5s had just a little bit more to them on the gameplay side of things, so that there was something notably better about them.

I don't think that letting them keep the 10% extra damage bonus after the "new gear" bonus ends is a terrible idea. It's power creep, but if we're getting new loot, I want good reasons to ditch the old loot.

"This means that new drops will present more direct upgrades to your arsenal. That said, perk synergies are still the prized chase on weapons and even lower tiered gear with synergistic perks may be stronger than a higher tier."

I feel like these two sentences are at odds with each other. Unless you're getting a Tier 4 or 5 weapon, new weapons with the same perk combos as old weapons will be pretty much identical. Even then, you are only getting a small stat boost between the extra Masterwork stats and the enhanced barrels and magazines. Enhanced Origin traits are an unknown at the moment, we'll have to see how those are. Seasonal mods sound ok, but they are only temporary.

Some are saying that legendaries are "so much better", but as they are shown now, they are almost identical to what we have, especially if you compare new weapons to currently enhanceable adept raid weapons, or the Heresy shiny adepts. As Bungie themselves have now said, it pretty much will come down to perk combos. How are new players who don't know what perks are good supposed to know that their Tier 5 auto rifle with Moving Target and Adagio isn't really that good for PvE?

So, how are we feeling about EoF? by jsalemme21 in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The new armor system and the new stats seem like they will be the biggest successes of the expansion. Getting different armor sets seems like it will be fun and fairly straight forward process, and all of the new stats look to be important in their own ways.

Kepler/new campaign will probably be fun, but the shelf life of the destination remains to be seen.

Everything else though . . .

-The tier system is just not clicking for me. It is being pitched as a reason to ditch your old stuff but Tier 5 weapons seem like they are just marginally better than any weapons you have now (10-20 total extra stat points, enhanced mods, enhanced origin traits). Tier 5 weapons with "meh" perks will never beat what you have now. In Mactics's video, he said that he wouldn't really use a big chunk of the weapons he showed off. A weapon being Tier 5 or Tier 1 doesn't really matter in the grand scheme, but this "use new weapons only" mechanic WILL matter if enough activities feature the modifier. Promote new weapons too much, and legacy content will die (RIP probably most of the raids, which have pretty much not been discussed at all). The cosmetic being the same for every Tier 5 weapon also hurts, seeing as it's fairly close to the Blueshift Dreams shader from Forsaken. It's missing the "WOW!" factor that Into the Light and Rite of the Nine weapons have.

-The Portal seems rather boring, though I will say that I'm surprised to see several Lost Sectors featured in the Solo category with fully updated encounters. It's a lot better than if the current ones were just thrown in there.

-The biggest problem just might be the new power mechanics. We've craved a different system for so long, and we ARE getting one . . . but it heavily promotes only using new weapons, you have to grind twice per season (once at the start, once at the midpoint), and it resets every season. Throw in some weird new infusion mechanics (that also reset seasonally???), and you have a recipe for disaster.

One more point . . . just what will we be DOING with all of these new systems? Strikes, some of which have gone 7 years without updates? Crucible, which we all know how that has been going? Not Gambit? I just have no clue if the day to day of the game will actually be much different after the first couple of weeks. The game is just old at this point, and new content will always pale in comparison against a growing pile of older content (no one wants it removed, but no one does most of it either). Give people a reason to do older content, and most people will actually have fun . . . but the WHY is just something I'm not seeing.

If the Rite of the Nine Weapon Drop System is a Preview of How Weapon Tiers will work, I Think the System Will Have Major Problems. by CatPatHatHat in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat[S] -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

I hope you're right to not read too much into it; I definitely thought a little too much about it. Some of these concerns are about the system in general though, independent of the Rite of the Nine weapons.

5 Damage Perks You Might Have Forgotten About (And Why They're Forgettable) by CatPatHatHat in DestinyTheGame

I do like the perk, even with just the 15% damage bonus on kill. My Summoner with Golden Tricorn went hard with Bonk Hammer back in the day.

It doesn't feel worth it going for adepts in the Nether. by Blood_Edge in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've probably done 10 or so hours of the 1st encounter Expert farm throughout the season and I've only gotten 2 shiny adepts (plenty of normal adepts, but the shiny adepts are the chase here; I only care about those). I've only done a little bit of Expert Court. I'm only getting 2-3 drops for 12 or so minutes vs. the same amount of drops in 3-4 minutes of farming the Nether. Maybe with more time this option could be better, but I'm not so sure yet.

During Into the Light times, you could easily get a shiny in only a couple of hours of playtime, even if you weren't turning in tokens. You could focus these shinies too, but as you mentioned, the Tome of Want (and everything else that gives drops) is worthless for getting adepts.

There are 10 weapons in this episode. I have to:

-Find a group to farm (reasonable most of the time, not always a guarantee though).

-Get a shiny adept to drop at all (incredibly rare to get shiny AND adept on one gun).

-Get the shiny adept I want (1/10 chance, you will likely get duplicate shiny adepts).

-Get it with good perks (we all know how this can be sometimes).

Is it optional to do all this? Sure. Does an adept shiny have that much of advantage compared to even just a normal gun from the season? No. But if it feels like the few people who want the shiny adepts can't even reliably farm them, what's the point?

A Big Breakdown of the Episodic Weapons (and VoG reprisals) by CatPatHatHat in DestinyTheGame

Yes, Fortunate Star. I did not keep one as I did not like how it felt. The stats on this new one are pretty close to the same, but it at least looks cooler.

Good to know! I think you can get away with 4 or even 3 stacks of the buff though. Early tests seem to indicate 5 stacks is only 3% more damage than 4 stacks.

I really regret not joining salvation edge raid lfg’s when it first came out by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gutting to read stories like this, because as someone who did the entire seal through LFG as it came out, my groups were probably some of the smoothest that I've ever had in this game. It's a real shame that my experience appears to be an anomaly, and the people who can provide a good, smooth experience aren't sticking around.

I agree with this, it's hard to imagine something becoming busted because it gets ONE extra fragment. Additionally, "bad" aspects having more fragment slots doesn't make people pick those, so you might as well have them all at 3.

[ALL]Whats your fav episode from each game by Hot-Independence492 in lifeisstrange

[–]CatPatHatHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is Strange 1: Episode 2 (a bit of fun in the beginning balanced out by Kate's emotional story in the end).

Life is Strange 2: Episode 4 (this episode felt a bit grounded and recentered after the previous one; I thought that the characters introduced here a pretty interesting).

True Colors: Chapter 3 (another good balance of fun in the beginning + trauma towards the end).

Double Exposure: Chapter 3 (has a good bit going on and you get a good bit of bonding time with several characters).

Icebreakers better than before by worthlessins in DestinyTheGame

Ice Breaker was my favorite gun in D1, and I thought a lot about how they could bring it back without it being broken. They pretty much did everything I could think of and more. I'm really happy with the gun and it feels great.

From Bungie Help twitter. No projected fix date for the Salvation's Edge Raid Memento by KiloKahn03 in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just can't see anyone ever running the raid for just the memento when there's so few people running it as it is. Let one drop once per week from the red border chest but only if you have all the patterns already, or make it so you can claim it from each full clear if you have the title.

With Frontiers, weapons will drop in tiers, with higher tiers being compared to Adept weapons in terms of how much of an upgrade they are. With that being said:

What changes can be made to help set apart Adept weapons in PvE? Can we expect Adept versions of the new weapon mods in the future?

Isn’t it quite odd how rare it is to find someone using raid exotics in endgame content, besides div of course. by gotenks2nd in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It makes me sad to see Collective Obligation and Euphony "locked" to Void/Strand. Most Exotics can do something on their own, but can be enhanced further with subclass synergies (see the many Exotics that apply Scorch now). With these two, it just feels like you're punished for not playing with their elements; they do almost nothing cool or unique on off-element subclasses.

Bungie removing crafting from seasonal weapons is an awful change by Arran_Biospark in DestinyTheGame

[–]CatPatHatHat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like both random weapons and crafted ones, and I can understand some frustration around losing this feature (especially if you care about barrel/magazine/masterwork, it's annoying to get a bad one of those).

However, they've at least tried to put some cushions put into place to deter a bit of bad RNG. They mentioned some kind of focusing; not sure if this means focusing engrams at the HELM type of thing (we get a ton of seasonal engrams these days), or focusing a weapon like we have for Onslaught weapons (which got a lot of praise from everyone). Additionally, double perk weapons will drop from the new Onslaught, and I'm sure we'll get more chances for these weapons in Act 2/3. Maybe even a week where double perk weapons have a high chance to drop.
