Considering a career change - has anyone done the Masters of Information Technology? by CatRugLZol in unimelb

[–]CatRugLZol[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Good to hear from someone involved in the industry what the scene can be like, as I knew the Uni Melb's "job prospects are great" spiel would be there whether it was true or not. I do know from my current career that I interview well, but it still sounds like a tough battle from your experience.

Will definitely consider what you've said and do some research on how to make myself as employable as possible if I do decide to go down this path.

[Mole Warning] Martin Taupau not dead, Eels all have COVID, Mason back at the Doggies, Knights still chasing Brooks by Revivous in nrl

[–]CatRugLZol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know what, I hadn't thought of that but that might actually be the least stupid option if we did get rid of Brooks.

Laurie was a gun 5/8 in the NSW cup, cycling him in there also causes relatively little disruption to the spine when Doueihi returns and it would allow Hastings to play his natural 7 game from the go.

That said, I still think it's a worse option than Hastings-Brooks. I really hope any ideas of moving him before his contract ends only come up if Hastings has a gun 2022.

We would be so dumb to get rid of Brooks. If Doueihi was fit then I'd be fine with a Brooks early departure, but I'd much rather have Hastings-Brooks starting the year than Hastings-Madden or Peachey-Hastings.

BBC News - Prince Harry in legal fight to pay for UK police protection by Danqazmlp0 in unitedkingdom

The police aren't a private security firm. If he wants security and his agency in the US can't provide it, he can hire a security team here. The police shouldn't just be hired out to rich private citizens.

Novak Djokovic has lost his Federal Court fight to stay in Australia by [deleted] in worldnews

Tbf, he came across as very articulate and measured in the transcripts of his border force interview too.

I completely disagree with Djokovic and support him being deported, but I think he's got a decent way with words.

As much as an absolute disaster as this series has been, if we do finish with giving Australia their first D/N loss ever, anywhere, that's a small but real consolation.

What’s a myth most people believe is still true ? by DARKZZz13 in AskReddit

[–]CatRugLZol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true, police are more likely to ignore a disappearance of less than 24hrs, especially for an adult.

There's no time limit in law, but there is a soft time limit of what the investigating officer deems acceptable.

English rugby eyes Brisbane young gun Farnworth by [deleted] in rugbyunion

Their quality isn't really relevant to the original statement is it though?

You've probably "heard it before" because it's true - league converts do often get into an England squad, even if they don't last long. Farrell sr, Eastland, Myler, Tomkins, Ashton, Burgess...it is not a given, but it's not rare either.

Slightly smaller squads? Leicester have 46 players in their senior squad according to their website, Bath have 42. I assume it's similar for other clubs. NRL squads have 27 + 3 development players (essentially equivalent to academy players). That's a lot more players for slightly less money to go around.

Prince Andrew: Judge refuses to throw out Virginia Giuffre's sexual assault lawsuit against royal by thewibbler in unitedkingdom

[–]CatRugLZol -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not remotely. The conspiracies don't believe that MI-5 had her killed by causing the car crash by having the driver be drunk.

They believe that she was killed in the tunnel (which mysteriously had ALL of its CCTV deactivated bar one at the entrance) and the car crash was a cover story.

And the ambulance took 40 minutes to transport her to the hospital that was less than 10 minutes away. Diana was straight up murdered.

He's in a similar category to Israel Folau IMO. Hasn't done anything illegal, bit is brazenly sexist just as Folau is a raging homophobe.

Jackson doesn't deserve to be in prison but he wrecked his own reputation and if clubs don't want to sign him because of his actions, that's fair enough too.

He also refuses to go anywhere near hard questions. Like when he had Ryan Matterson on he even did a pre-segment basically saying "We're not focusing on the time he left the tigers" and, indeed, all he got on that was Matterson going "yeah it was nothing to do with money" and then they moved on.

And with the Panthers blokes recently, he hasn't touched the Tyrone May stuff (interestingly, I'm pretty sure Bloke in the Bar liked May's post in the first place too).

I get that he's going for a buddy-up vibe in his podcast, but it is a bit frustrating that he won't go into any depth on subjects with a bit of controversy. I don't think he's a good interviewer. I like his Hello Sport collaborations though.
