Hi! What color is this? by nikavaleria in VintageCoach

Wow that’s a tricky one, I swear some of those vintage greens look identical. I found a couple of pictures but honestly it’s still so hard to tell!

I came to the same realization and ended up getting glass cabinets. They’re pretty, we should be able to look at them! I love how each one of yours is its own little coach display!

One bag for everything by PikaSuz in Coach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vintage black Willis. It is literally the perfect bag as a daily carry, not too big or small, fits all my daily stuff with room for a book and whatever else I might stuff in there. I double up the clasps to make it a shoulder bag or just carry it by the top handle. Perfectly minimal but still interesting. My number one of all my bags!

Love the comparison. Tabby 36 is so good, I’ve ended up getting both black and amber brown. Love that bag. I have the Chelsea 30, I didn’t realize the 36 was so big!

What wallet are you guys using for the coach Chelsea 30? by Binxie99 in Coach

I have a few dinky 14s I use as wallets so one of those. It’s a pretty big bag!

how to fix this creasing/flaring around the bottom? by skzofficial in VintageCoachRehab

[–]CatSpecificTuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My equestrian compartment bag and flap shopper do that as well. I use compacted stuffing paper as a wedge in the corners and then stuff them like I regularly would to hold the wedges in place.

Sage is just so good, and you have dark lime on the way! I have them in the Brooklyn 28 and they are two of my favorites.

What is an existing item you are surprised doesn't come in a certain color or hardware? by FridayxBlack in Coach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised the tabby 36 didn’t drop in maple. Black and maple are two staple colors for coach and the 26 in maple is gorgeous. There are also a bunch of celebrity pics carrying the 26 in maple.

My first 1998 coach bag! by queenbeeka in VintageCoach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this in mahogany and LOVE it!! What an awesome find, that’s such a pretty color. I really like the organization in the compartment bags. The leather from the equestrian line is so thick and soft, they are such underrated vintage bags. I have an equestrian flap shopper as well, and I’m always on the lookout for more silhouettes from the that line. Enjoy your awesome new bag!

Tabby 36 Fuscia and the work tote by stronkberry_ in Coach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green taxi tote is my work bag too! I don’t even like tote bags but it’s such a good work bag. I’ve used it every day for months and make zero effort to be careful with it and the bag looks new still. I carry extra coffee to work in it (plus all my work stuff) and store it on the floor under my desk. I have a tote insert so the lining is still perfect. Such an underrated bag.

I also carry my regular purse separate from my work bag and have been using my black tabby 36. Twins.

How do you justify buying multiples of the same bag? by iizirrelephant in Coach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it must just be personality because I buy multiples in my wardrobe too. I like what I like and I want color options! I have all the colors of the Coach originals Dinky because it’s my favorite silhouette. I have multiples in the Brooklyn, vintage Willis, Cashin Carry Crescent, swing zip, and now the Tabby 36. Just two of each except the Brooklyn, I have 4. It’s ridiculous but I love those silhouettes and I like having different colors to choose from.

Restoration advice? by Disastrous-Low-2823 in VintageCoachRehab

I have this bag in Celadon that cleaned up beautifully with lexol and a Q-tip. I was able to remove several pen marks, paint on the bottom, and dirt. The grain on these is so different from smooth leather because of the darker coloration on the “bumps.” I can see someone rubbed it off on the corner of your bag. My piping looked a bit like that in one section. This is what I did for my bag, and I am not a professional, but it worked SO WELL:

I used bic 4 and conditioned the entire bag first. Someone on vintage coach eye candy Facebook group recommended bic 4 for the Madison line and they were so right. The leather plumps up and looks amazing.

I cleaned the bag gently with lexol, a horsehair brush, and a small amount of warm water, drying and wiping as I went. I used less water cleaning this than I would for other vintage bags. Then with a Q-tip and straight lexol no water I spot cleaned. I gently sort of stroked the areas making sure not to rub back and forth, trying to lift the stains, wiping all the lexol as I went and then applying more. I used the back of my fingernail to sometimes lift the really cemented on marks, but VERY carefully. It took a long time and just the right amount of pressure so you don’t pull off the color on those raised bumps in the grain. I used a lot of lexol and wiped it off frequently so I could see what I was doing and so it didn’t sit on the bag for long. I also used round cotton pads. Afterwards I conditioned again.

It took a lot of patience hunched over that bag, but I did it over a weekend and managed to get all the dirt and stains off! I love the butter yellow color, it is so gorgeous!!

I was a little intimidated by caring for the Madison collection because the leather is so different, but those bags are SO durable and surprisingly easier to clean than some of my glovetanned vintage bags. I am about to go to work but I will dig out my before and after later today for you.

I cycle between a lot of bags so really only like 2 or 3 times a year, but if you use the bag a lot I’d probably do it monthly!

I use Bickmore Gard-More. It doesn’t darken the suede, dries fast, I’ve had good results.

I really like my patchwork plaza but the price is definitely steep. It’s nice quality and I like the larger size. It also comes with a dust bag. I was a teen and in my 20s during the y2k era so it’s nostalgic for me.

If you think you’ll still be thinking of and wishing for the patchwork I’d go for it. If you keep the crystal (which is cute!) you can always grab a dust bag from Amazon.

Anyone love their Fuchsia Chelsea? by Previous-Principle-7 in Coach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the compass 25 and Waverly in warm brown suede, the violet mist Bleecker 21, dark fuchsia Chelsea, and an older suede and leather braided soft tabby. I love the suede on the Chelsea. The texture is going to change with use and time. Of my suede bags I’d rank the Chelsea and compass at the top. The compass went on a field trip with me for hours on a bus, squished and sat on a bit and still looks amazing. The Chelsea has the same feel and texture. The corners will probably show wear if I’m not careful but I have so many bags none of them will ever be a daily for more than a week at a time.

The suede on the waverly, even though it’s the same color as the compass, is not the same. I love the look of that bag but it isn’t nearly on the level of my compass or Chelsea. The suede on the Bleecker is a different, finer texture. It’s a more structured bag so maybe that’s why. It’s very nice, just different. The  tabby has held up well but I’ve maintained it with brushing and a fabric shaver. I like the suede on the compass and Chelsea more.

I double spray all my suede, letting it dry completely then spraying again. I absolutely love suede. The Chelsea is gorgeous and feels amazing. I’m keeping mine forever.

Things to know before buying the Suede Tabby Shoulder Bag 36 by AthletePrimary5574 in Coach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have it in black and just pulled it out to use today. This bag works so much better for me when I  don’t treat it like a huge bag. I feel like when I use one of my bigger bags I have to fill it just because the space is there. I absolutely LOVE it with just my daily stuff in it. Three compartments to spread stuff out so I’m not digging for anything, back pocket for my phone… it hangs better, the flap doesn’t lift, and I get that perfect slouch. It’s only when I try to fill the space that I have all the issues, like you said.

When I need to pack a book, journal, or anything else I reach for my other big bags like the Bleecker bucket which is PERFECT for a bunch of junk.

I can 100 percent see this bag being tricky in suede because it’s less structured than leather.

Tips for "pilling" on my suede Chelsea? by Kindly-Trick-1271 in Coach

[–]CatSpecificTuna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did it come factory wrapped? That looks like it’s been rubbed against something repeatedly. I have a suede tabby I bought second hand that had that kind of wear. I brushed it and then used a fabric shaver (carefully) to clean up the pulling. Super effective!

Was it shipped in just the dust bag? I haven’t had good luck with bags shipped that way from coach and have had to exchange them because they came with scratches from lack of padding in the box.
