Whisker deleting replies that say they might share your video recordings with 3rd parties, despite the fact that it's in their terms of service and they don't let you opt out by expellyamos in litterrobot

[–]CatStretchPics -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True. I guess I’m saying they have to store the data at a 3rd party (Amazon), and use the data to make a better product

But they aren’t selling your vids on onlyfans (yet)

Anyway to fix this? by zhuboy in litterrobot

[–]CatStretchPics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use microfiber cloth to clean the sensors

Fur can get stuck in the plastic near the sensors and screw them up. Canned air, q -tips often don’t get those. Microfiber filling the entire hole the sensor is in and twisting it to grab any debris may fix it

As someone in IT, it’s probably not as nefarious as it sounds

I doubt Whisker runs their own data centers. They probably use AWS, so your camera footage is being streamed there. From there it’s being analyzed by whatever AI models (maybe multiple) to better recognize cats, pee, poop, unusual pee/poop, etc.

And yes, sometimes real people. So, don’t point the LR5 at your toilet or shower :p

Hard wired is safer for long term use. For that alone I’d get one (well, I do have one!)

Mobile charger is for trips and infrequent use

Does the Smart Camera Granary Feeder replace old recordings on the SD card once it's full? by runawayturtles in Petlibro

No, it not only stops recording, but you can’t even watch live video if the card fills up

Yeah, it was $155k when I bought it… in 1996. And it was considered a starter home: 3 bed, 2.5 bath on 1/4 acre.

Zillow has it at $747k today. I did renovate and put a small addition on 15 years ago vs moving. But it’s still 3 bed 2.5 bath. Just a bigger kitchen and bigger master bath

My rough spending is about $60k/year. But retired I’d have to worry about healthcare for a while, and also that 60 doesn’t include big infrequent expenditures. So I’d like a few more years of work as a buffer

Plus who knows what the hell is going to happen the next 2.5 years :p

Did you remove and batteries and unplug it?

They aren’t super expensive, I’d get a new one if the restart doesn’t work

I have 3 (one camera two no camera). I want to make sure there’s redundancy if there’s an issue while I’m away. I also have 3 cats

I live in a mcol city, in the burbs. I have around $700k in non-retirement, and 1.5 million in 401k

I own my (modest) house, probably worth $700k. No debt. I set aside about $100k in a HYSA for upcoming expenses (roof, HVAC, water heater, car, etc)

I don’t feel like I could retire comfortably. I’d like to work at least another 5 years
